any good deals? 125

i’m looking for somewhere offering good insurance deals with the bike.

haven’t looked in many places yet, but the best i’ve found is a Honda CBR125 RW-5 for £2199, and insurance is £400 if you buy from them

not sure if they offer credit terms, i saw on the same site a CBR125 R5-S for £2,495 , they dont mention the £400/year insurance offer though,

another on their site is: CBR125R for £2599.00, and they state that i can pay £70 a month, with the 400/year insurance offer, but thats still over £100 a month which… not sure i can afford.

few Qs-

  1. what’s the difference between these 3 bikes?

  2. anyone seen any other good offers out there? paying monthly would be excellent and i’m not too fussy about which bike i get, as long as its 125, learner legal and not a moped.

How long are you planning to be on L-plates? Would it be worth you getting a second-hand, older bike and saving your hard-earned for once you’ve passed? There are usually some reasonable bargains on second-hand 125s as so many people want to move onto a ‘proper’ bike and so have their first bikes to get rid of.

Oh, and make sure you have an ENORMOUS lock and chain for your bike whatever you go for. 125s are just about the easiest bikes on the planet to nick as they’re so light.

yeah, buying a second hand one is probably the sensible idea.

i’d probably keep it for a few months until i’m comfortable enough to take my test, then keep it for another 2 years till i can buy a bigger one.

to be honest just get a used one, its a honda u will not have a problem. No difference, one CBR125 is the same as the other. Well until the new 2007 is released (think in a few weeks).

I just sold mine, yet to be handed over or payed for. For £1000, Honestly I could have got like £300-£400 more but just could not be bothered to look around for a sale.

So yeah budget £1400 and get a good used one.

yeah, its the lump sum thats a bit of a problem…

£1000 for the bike, £100 for the CBT, £200 for safety gear, £800 for the first year’s insurance

£2,200… £1366 or so i need to have in 1 go…

guess when i get all my student monies and other monies in september i will get one. was hoping to get one sooner, but for that i’d need one that you pay monthly.

get a 0% credit card so you have about 6 mts to pay off the CBT, insurance and gear. Get a bank loan for the bike… job done

i didnt even think of that…

hmmm… any suggestions on credit cards? (i’ll have a look around for one).

i’ll be going to uni in less than 6 months, at that time i’ll be getting a big student grant/loan/bursary along with some other money =]

I was going to go for a cheap bike, but i’m gonna have it for over 2 years, might as well pay the little extra.

Here’s a question… what would happen if i bought a 33bhp bike, and just tried to get away with it by playing dumb until i did my test? (hypothetically, i wouldnt do that of corse)

what’s the chance of being caught? i’m just not that keen on sticking with 13bhp after doing my test. Its quite an annoyance really, i need a 13bhp or so for a few months so i’m prepared for test, but after test i want a new one and i’d rather not buy 2 bikes.

I figure if i get caught i could play dumb, hope that i’m feeling ready for my test and hire a bike to take it. p.s: sorry if such a hypothetical is taboo on these forums ><
