That can give me some advice before i take it to a garage
My V-MAX has no power at all
2nd gear feels like 5th and i have no torque at all
It feels like it is running of diesel (Which it isn’t) and i can only assume that i am misfiring but the plugs are all new as i have it serviced last week.
I can hardly get it over 80 and it is extremely sluggish
Any clues before i take it in
Does it run cleanly upto certain revs, and then won’t rev past? Or is it just sluggish from the off?
First thing to check is that all the hoses to the airbox have been reconnected properly (I’ve had them come loose after a service before and had similar trouble). Do you have an inline fuel filter that might be blocked? Have you pulled a plug to see what it looks like? A wet plug could point at a spark problem (as opposed to a fuel problem).
Check Air Filter, plugs, leads etc. This is usually the first port of call with this kind of problem. Alternatively if you’ve had the tank off check fuel lines.

Well it is a cruiser after all…
Cheeky
I normally have no problem keeping and taking you girls on the sportsbikes
The only limiting factor is that i ride like a complete Jess and the sportier members of the group temd to outgun me on skill rather thne brute power
Doesn’t the VMAX come with a plow attachment? LOL
Took it to the garage
Seems that the initial problem is that the choke mechanism was faulty and was not disengaging the choke fully.
Hence i had too much fuel in the carbs which was impacting the lower gears
Had this resolved and the bike was fine last night on the way home
This morning it was fine for a while but now it is jittery at speed and useless off the lights
Any recommendations
Can i take it somewhere and get a computer diagnostic done and if so where and how much
I Just want to get rid of the pussycat and bring back the roaring Lion
I am taking it back to the garage in a couple of weeks to see what they can do but any suggestions greatly appreciated
HELP
If it was okay before you took it in for a service then maybe you should start laying into whoever serviced the bike and tell them to get it sorted. I wouldnt be happy having to wait another week or so to get it sorted.
to be fair my garage did not charge me for the work they did on it yesterday and i have known them for years so can’t get hardball on them.
If it’s running rough and not pulling as hard as it should, I would ask if it is running on only 2 or three cylinders. Perhaps one of the new plugs is not working, or one or more plug leads are damaged or connected to the wrong spark plug this would give the behaviour you describe all the time. If one or more cyclinders are not running, their exhaust pipes will stay cold when the others get hot (investigate this with great care). If it starts off OK but then gets worse it is more likely to be a blocked or kinked breather to the tank or carbs.

Thanks for the advice i will give it a good inspection when i get home tonight
