so i just heard on the news another young lad has died after being stabbed…WHY??? what is going on with the youths today?
it gets me so angry!!
i think the police need to being back stop and search, regardless of race or creed, they are the police! they can stop who they like, if they have a suspicion.
18th teenager this year - that’s absolutely nuts!!! that’ll be 36+ by the end of the year, and the rate is increasing
stop and search has to come back and properly - I couldn’t care less if some people are upset by being asked to empty their pockets if it means no more stabbings
and for the poor French Students - over 240 stab wounds in total…insane
the people need very swift and harsh justice
while the law calls for automatic imprisonment for carrying a knife, without stop and search how are we supposed to catch these scum!
dont blame ya mate, i worrie about mates lil brothers etc in a way im glad i aint 15 again because if i was i would be very wary when out and about, i always was when younger i was quite ‘streetwise’ so to speak, i knew when it was gonna go off etc, the thing is when i was younger we did have stabbings, but nowhere near teh level its got to now.
alot of it is down to music culture, grime, hip hop etc, now dont get me wrong i listen to that music, but i dont follow what is said, i cant live like that, seems some want to.
as my brother once said of these kids ‘aint got no future, dont want no future’ wich is so very sad, but so very true.
we have stop and search but the political correctness lobby and the history of stop and search have limited the way the police can apply the rules.and its not easy, even if you flood an area with police within seconds of the first stops going in the phones are ringing and every one dumps the weapons till police have gone, so how do you catch them???
if you catch them then very little happens in the courts, if it goes to court.
i dont know the answers, there is a part of society now that believes carrying weapons is ok, this causes those who wouldnt normally not do it to do it in order to protect themseleves, the pack mentality then generates a mood that results in deadly violence.
its sad that these kids are being killed but they are the only ones that can stop it, they are the ones killing each other.LONDONBIKERS Against Knife Crime - Ride A Blade, Dont Carry One!!
i cant beleive how many young teens are being killed. Its nearly one every week at the moment. It seems to be the “in” thing to kill someone these days. Where on earth has his country gone wrong?! it was never this bad when i was younger, i could walk to school at the age of seven and i never felt worried or scared of other teens. I certainly wouldnt be doing that now.
the amount of knife crime is unbelievable, And its not just the youth. My dad got attacked in his house earlier this year by a 18 year old masked lad carrying a kitchen knife, he tried to rob dad of money and other items. Luckily he survived and is safe.
Just imagine how its going to be in say another 10 even 20 years from now. I dread to think.
There were more fatal stabbings by this time in 2007. Seems to be this months theme d’jour - I wonder how counter productive these sensational headlines are?
Discipline at home; discipline at school, peer pressure, ineffectiveness of the legal system in dealing with young offenders? What is different with these things nowadays which makes knife crime so wide spread today. Or has there always been high levels of knife crime, but they have always been brushed under the carpet?
what almost worries me more is what’s gonna happen when these foccers get older. is the level of violence gonna escalate with age? and what if all them hooky russian firearms start making it into this country from the old soviet block :ermm:
That’s the main problem I think, these kids feel like they have nothing to lose and if that’s the case they can do what they want, after all you can’t take something away from them if they don’t feel like they have it in the first place…
Education is the key, these kids have to feel like there is something out there for them and that there are people willing to help them get there if they are willing to make the effort to work toward it, that has to come from all sections of society but most of all from their parents, then the teachers/authorities…but if the message/support/guidance isn’t there in the home to start with then they are fighting an uphill battle from day one…very very sad…
what dya mean start making it!!! they are already here!!
they have’nt got nothing to lose!!
if they get banged up they get a weekly wage, roof over thier head, playstation, tv most of their freind are in there so its just like a holiday camp in prison
and when they come out they get help to get a house/flat, sign on to get it rent payed for them
I think that the even scarier thing is the amount of stabbings, be tham fatal or otherwise, that aren’t reported in the press:angry:
The number of violent attacks on poeple in London is phenomenal, it’s just that teenagers stabbing each other makes good headlinesn and most of the other things that are going on don’t!
yup i know alot of shootings go unreported, two guys were shot round my way last week, one 37 and a 14 year old.
few weeks ago i went out for lunch while at work, we had heard there had been a stabbing during the night, at teh bottom of chapel market islington, outside the borders, there was still blood on teh pavement and road, all clsoed off while forensics went to work.
horrible sight, turned my stomach.
thanfully it wasnt a fatal stabbing, but still…
i have been stabbed myself, not majorly but enough to know it hurts!
gives you a warm feeling doesn’t it ? we got rid of all the legally held firearms, the goverment and parliment have spent endless hours debating and then effectively banning replica firearms such as airsoft, and are now looking at kitchen knives and requiring tradesmen to buy a licence to carry tools that could be used as a weapon! and at the same time we stop the legitimate stop and search of people who are most at risk of committing and being victims of knive and gun crime because the bleating of the usual “rent a gob” social commentaters who are wheeled out to decry the actions of the police and label every stop/search of anyone not white anglo saxon of 4 generations English, as racist! FFS look at the pictures of these kids! they are predominatly black, yet a few months ago when a senior police officer (black) called for the targeting of black youths in order to reduce these crimes(http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2007/oct/21/ukcrime.race) ,the mob called for his blood! even his “colleagues” backed away from him ! if we aren’t prepared to face up to the facts then more kids are going to die! treat gang members like scum, show them no respect and no mercy! its about time the courts treated these people as the serious criminals they are and backed up the police, and its about time the police started doing their job without fear or favour!
I agree with Kenny - that no-nonsense firmness is in order - also I think that we live in a society where the possession of money and material goods has become the only yardstick of success - business ethics have replaced traditional ethics derived from traditional religion and community (I’m not religious - it’s just a historical fact) - so that qualities such as compassion, caring about your fellow citizen etc are viewed as a weakness - or with outright suspicion. The forcing through of an unregulated free-market economy in the 1980’s (Reagan, Thatcher), the destruction of traditional industrys etc ripped the heart out of many communities (paticularly in the north). This led to the first phase of social breakdown in British society (1980’s).
Free market economys promote an individualistic, me, me, me culture underpinned with a ‘survival of the fittest’ ethos - they also promote a culture of instant gratification - people must have the latest phone, car (or dare I say it - motorbike - take the Japanese sportsbike model cycle - updating the bike every two years - some people are prepared to get into debt just to be seen on the latest bike!). The instant gratification culture has destroyed family life with a lot of men abandoning their kids (crucially - their sons) to go off and live with someone else rather than see the relationship through. Their kids experience of home is a negative one and they band together in ‘feral’ packs. Don’t get me wrong - I’m no bleeding heart liberal (no pun intended) - If I come up against these little bstrds messing with me or my family and friends (or any of you lot for that matter) I will have no problem in ‘modifying’ their behaviour ;).
These factors - combined with deepening inequalities in wealth (even the traditional middle classes are struggling to maintain their lifestyle expectations) are the root of a lot of the anger in our society - when people can’t get what they want, or feel slighted (which is not an unusual way to feel in a society where greed, egotism and selfishness are promoted as a virtue) they behave like spoilt kids and throw a tantrum - or worse - it spills over into violence.
A lot of the kids are angry because they are living in one of the richest cities in the world and have fck all - while constantly having evidence of other peoples extreme wealth and privilege stuffed down their throats which makes them feel worthless and angry - (I know how angry I used to get as a kid as a result of some of the sht I went through) they are still nasty little bstrds though, and I’m not excusing their behaviour - I’m just trying to establish why this sh*it is happening like the rest of you.
We are currently living in a second phase of ‘global’ social breakdown - as traditional societal structures are eroded as countries are forced to adapt to the demands of the global free market economy - many developing countries are losing their best/youngest people who are emigating to richer countries either out of economic necessity or in order to take part in the ‘ME’ culture.
A lot of the problems we are suffering from result from the social and cultural dislocation which are a by-product of global free-market economics - the free-market is a good thing - but it has become unhealthily deregulated and needs reigning in so that societys can heal themselves and regain a measure of equilibrium. Perhaps if the oil does run out we will all have to start relying on each other again - and rediscover our sense of community and social responsibility.
i know of kids from estates pretty rough places…they wear 110 pound niek trainers ahev playstation 3’s etc but they stil go out and rob, and get involved in other things like carrying weapons etc, its the gang/pack mentality they have now, klike bluestar said
i also know many people who have come from nothing and done bloody well for themsleves, purely through theer determination and drive and hard bloody work.
You’re right Ratty - some people are just Bstrds - other people are decent and just get on with it regardless of the circumstances (I like to think I’m one of them;)). I’m just trying to get a handle on the big picture.
