More likely the LSD rather than the curry Puppy:) I feel that living here is like one very long trip on acid. Today, saw a bloke with a gun outside work in a car, but it turned out just to be the man from the local bakery. As everyone carries guns it’s hard to assess risk. Sometimes I think am being paranoid and looking over my shoulder every second and should just chill out. Other times I feel that things have become normal, and I should get outside the situation to see it clearly.
Anyway be nice to be back on a bike again for a brief period - so anyone got a spare for a couple of weeks in Nov, give us a shout. Promise not to trash it. Although will probably spend the entire leave in a darkened room with valium and whisky, not speaking to anyone except to ask for prescription pills.
Don’t worry about me and Zebby, he will behave himself :D:D Am sure he’s already got half of Dubai after him, so I’ll be fine in the mansion. However, I’ll expect a large glass of vino and a slap up dinner off him.
Tbh - this place has ended forever any excuses I may be tempted to give to any future bosses. I got some work in this afternoon that should have been in this morning, basically cos someone got shot right near the project I was supposed to visit, then there were the two shootings on Saturday and a kidnap. However, this was no excuse according to the boss. I pointed out that in the event of a suicide bombing, a rocket attack or shootings I might be unable to cross town and may have to extend a deadline, but she said: ‘A deadline is a deadline, we like it, or we don’t like it!!’
So now I know, that if you are working in a war zone, where security is going from bad to worse and people are currently getting shot and kidnapped all over the capital, that is no excuse for missing a deadline! Oh no!!
Yeah - when I’m on leave I might be up for a rave, some very strong acid tabs, half a ton of prescription pills and a special consignment of valium. So let us know re any D & B nights out (although will have forgotten how to dance by then).:D:D
Over and out…
Stay safe folks on your bikes - reading about all the injuries and accidents gives me the heebie jeebies. So thinking of you all in your daily commutes and ride outs.
Hels, as you will be back at the end of Nov and bikerless I may have a solution. I wont be able to ride mine for some time so if I still have it and you can insure it you can borrow it. Just let me know if you are interested.
Fantastic pics just now had a look at the link. Good to see the wheelie brigade were out in force, despite the wet weather and slippy conditions.
Cheers mate for that - looks great fun.
All okay here at the mo, seems to have calmed down after Thursday’s bombing. Did you see the news re the resignation over the snatch landrovers? It’s a disgrace they are still being used and shoddy equipment is putting lives at risk
The snatch landys should have been out of use since july/aug last year. I know they stopped using them out on the ground when i was in iraq. Well except for dealings round the perimeter. Didnt realise they where still using them on the ground in afghan, dont suprise me with the army though. The goverment can spend millions on anything(such as the olympics) except equipment for the armed forces
