Another shooting - but am still alive

Dear folks

Thanks for your concern when poor Gayle Williams was murdered on Monday - much appreciated.

Today there has been another shooting in the centre of Kabul. Afghans and foreigners (we think Germans working for DHL) were murdered. So no movements today. RIP poor bastards who died. Tragic for the families, friends and colleagues.

I am still alive and kicking. Here is a pic to prove it folks, just so you know am not posting this from beyond the grave.

Good to hear that once again you are ok Hels. Nice outfit by the way.

Stay safe.

Yeah suits me, don’t you think LOL, better than all that biker gear?:D:D

Actually the people were British and a South African, so we hear now. They were apparently shot when in their car. Worrying developments, as it was the bang in the centre of town too.

I hope you have a vest on under that frock girl!:w00t:

Not good news, please keep your head down Hels.

Chunks x

R.I.P to those who have lost there lives

Good to see your still doing well hels. i think you’d look mutch better in a set of leathers  so you best get your ass back here safley and get on a moto even if it means ive gota come over there and get you

Well I sold my powder blue leather bike suit to 660smc’s missus, so will have to get another when I get back and get my ‘Proper Moto’ LOL  Getting cold now, so will be getting the thermals out soon.

Yes, it is very sad, as these poor people were just going to work in the car. :frowning: A few months ago Kabul, the north of the country and parts of the west, were considered relatively safe compared to the south. However, in recent months the Taliban have been encroaching on the capital, there are elections next year, the government is weak, people think the Taliban could have infiltrated security firms and there is much more social instability There are also criminal gangs kidnapping people for money (a Canadian journalist was kidnapped last week, two Bangaldeshi people were kidnapped from their office yesterday and many rich Afghans have been abducted).

However, despite the risks, I like the Afghans I work with and I like the job. Statistically biking in London traffic is probably more dangerous. However, here, it is obvious that the international community is a target, which makes things tricky.

Anyway, thanks for your comments folks and keep safe too on your bikes.

the lovely photo looks very religious, a lot of holy glow/halo(?) with a radiating centre:D

A 525 EXC supermoto’d will do the trick

There was 2 guys from my last unit who where in iraq when it first kicked off, they survived 6 months in the war zone. On there way home on leave they were killed in a car crash on a motorway in the UK.

Yeh! I thought that to!:w00t:

Glad to hear you’re ok, keep safe.

An old moto from my army days “keep your eyes open and get ready to get your head down and run like hell”

Keep safe and try to look like a poor local.

Cheers folks

London DRZ - met you also on KTM forum me thinks.

The Briton who was murdered was called David Giles and the names of the others have not been released, but RIP. Thinking of them and their families.

I should go to sleep now - it’s getting late.

Bike safe all you guys and gals

H xxx

Cheers Puppy and folks:)

Things seem calmer here today at work, apart from a few kidnapping rumours flying around, woke up this morning to a minor earthquake, bed and floor were shaking !!!

Anyways will log on here from time to time and check you are all well and not injuring yourselves on your bikes. Not long til my first break, so may catch up in November sometime, before returning to the nuthouse again.

laters

:D:D

Check with us after cadwell on friday, might be a few injuries then. Aparently there maybe a little snow which could prove to be entertaining, might put the old plastics on to be on the safe side :w00t:

Good to see your still doing well

Hi Hels

I can’t help suspecting from that photo that you are in fact in possession of a laptop, a copy of Photoshop and indeed holed up in a flat somewhere in London super-imposing pictures of yourself in suitable attire on foreign landscapes???

Apparently we’ve never landed on the moon either . . !? :w00t:

Ever thought of maybe office work?

Stay safe – news reports are suggesting things may get an awful lot worse.

Hey Zeus, yeah am holed up in a flat in Loughborough Juntion at the moment - may post a pic up of myself on a Malaysian beach soon:D:D:P;)

Would love to see the pics of Cadwell Asbo.

Have a lot of time on my hands this week - the boss has grounded me to base (eg work and guest house) until at least Thursday, as there are rumours that UK citizens are going to be targets for kidnaps. However, I am still allowed to travel across Kabul for work purposes, which kind of defeats the object really.

Here it is hard to differentiate rumour from fact. Things happen a lot, but there are also a lot of rumours flying about. It will get worse because of the elections next year, but will take each day as it comes.

Anyway am ON LEAVE end November for two weeks, flying to Dubai first to meet a biker mate, then to UK.

That nice pic was taken in Herat by the way, east of the country. They have a lovely blue mosque there too. It is more relaxed there than in the capital city, where such tourist opportunities are limited.

Better get off the net actually, as am at work and should be concentrating on my job.

Laters - stay safe all
