MCN’s Yamaha R6 meets a fiery end 16 June 2008 12:24
This is the result of MCN’s Senior Writer Andy Downes’ track day mishap at Brands Hatch this morning (Monday).
Andy highsided the Yamaha R6 on the exit of Druids, and the impact of the crash resulted in fuel spilling from the tank over the hot motorbike, causing a massive fireball.
Witnesses say the smoke cloud was visible from several miles away. Andy was fortunately left with just a minor foot injury in the incident.
i’m sure there was a vid posted on here a few weeks back of someone elses R6 OR R1 sliding on a trackday abroad and the thing just bursts into flames watched by the bemused stewards…

from the first pic it looks like he did! he would have to have slid enough to rupture the tank first, then there is quite a long line of flame…Also it is pretty downhill at that point, gravity would have helped
