Another newbie!

Found this forum by accident when surfing so thought I would hook up.

Current road ride is a Kwaka 636. Also have a Kwaka ZX7R thats a track day bike and a Suzuki SV650 race bike. I am hopefully soon to get my ACU licence and will be out and about on the SV giving all I can for the rest of the year.

Hi Chuffster! Welcome aboard. Are you going to be racing in the MiniTwins series then? Best of luck with it, keep us posted That’s at least two ZX7 owners on here now.

Yep. The aim is to pass ACU test and get out there in the Mini Twins series. I had my first run on it at Brands GP on the 20th May when it dried in the afternoon. What a blast. even managed to sneak out with the ACU boys for half a session and taught some of them how to corner. I was hoping not to race this year and enter perhaps the Bemsee rookie championship next year. Can’t see me doing that as I am itching to go. Will probably run North Gloucester for rest of season as they have space. I will keep you posted as to how it progresses.

And yep, I am another owner with a ZX7. I have ridden all sorts of bikes but on your average Brit road, its hard to beat one.

Welcome m8.

Good luck with the racing.

hiya mate yeah good luck with acu and racing

Chuffster! Glad to hear there’s another ZX6R here! Welcome

Thanks for the welcome.

As for brands being wet, scary stuff especially on new tarmac but I had a ball even in the wet. Was in Intermediates running the ZX7 but I admit to cheating - full racing wets! The dry session gave me a chance to run the SV for the first time, what a great time, stuffing people down the inside and outside at dingly dell and other places was a hoot.

There are some pics from the day someplace. There was a note of a ZX6 going down but the location was incorrect. The bike went down at Paddock Hill when the rider grabbed too much front brake causing the bike to go down and skid into the guy who had just gone past him. I was right behind and nearly ran the rider of the ZX6 over as he rolled staright down the track infront of me.

All in all I had a great day and can’t wait to do it again.

Ow nasty, so did the ZX6 guy take out the person he hit? That’s my main concern when going round the outside of people, what if they lose it, they’re going to take me out as well! Some guy on a track R1 nearly clipped my front wheel yesterday at Brands when he cut across me, I wasn’t too happy for that second, but let it pass…

The guy on the ZX6 went down, as the bike hit the deck it seemed to accelerate and smashed into the can and back wheel of the guy infront who was on an R6. The Kwaka must have gone a good ten feet up in the air and managed a complete somersault whilst airborne. The R6 was so seriously damaged that the rider was unable to repair it, not exactly what he needed when it was his endurance bike for the next days race.

Apparently who ever owned the ZX6 had only had it 3 weeks and it was the second bike he had totalled in 3 months.

On track days a lot of companies actually tell you not to overtake in the corners, a bit boring but I suppose its safer. As long as you get round quickly, either inside or outside, its not an issue. In the beginners group I would only overtake on a straight as I have seen the way some of them ride a track. Fast group is deffo the safest place, you don’t get the sudden manouvers of the other groups.
