Another biker down :(

Hi guys.
I know it’s a very long time since I’ve managed to make it onto the site or to BM on Wednesdays but I will do my best to be out & about again soon.

Anyway, don’t know if it was a member of the forum but would like to wish good luck & speedy recovery to the biker who had an off this morn at Vauxhall Cross.
Didn’t look very promising as there was one person in road, then another about 50ft away both with paramedics rushing around not lookin very optimistic & the bike was another 30ft away still.
He/she may be nothing to do with LB but I’m sure everyone, like me, would like to wish them all the best!
Sorry to put a downer on the day so early in the morning :frowning:

Hope to meet up with all you guys (& girls) again soon.

Take it easy out there!

Hope they are both ok!! Were they rider and pillion?

I’m not sure to be honest, could only see one helmet but could’ve been another out of view.
I suspect it was a pedestrian runnin for a bus. They always charge across that road & I’ve almost bombed it myself :frowning:

Bloomin lemmings…they should run that as the next “Think bike” ad…with a pedestrian running out in london traffic in front of a bike:angry:
Hope whoever was involved was ok:)

looked nasty the whole area is solid hope they are ok

Traffics was backed up all the way to Peckham. Large incident area to up where it happened. Bike was a long way from the first cone.

Sort of simul-post, just put this in Road Watch. Hope they’re OK. Still sirens outside (my office is right on the corner of Wandsworth Road). Doesn’t sound good.

This is such a good idea we should start a petetion to make people more aware, everday somone steps out, i have hit 1 person who did this and came so close to dropping the bike yesterday when someone sprinted across 4 lanes on finchley roads and ran straight out!!

Christ i would even put some money in the pot to get the advert made!!!

Hope the biker is ok!!

It is a good idea, I never forget the time a little girl who could only have been about 5 ran out into the side of my bike!! She was very lucky as I was going very slow due to traffic ahead!!

It is without question my main fear when riding in town, i lways do a little beep when passing buses or vans, and it makes us look bad a bikes, alot of the car/bus/van drivers dont realsie how dangerous it is either!!

It happens all the time. Filtering down Kennington Lane towards this very accident this morning, the guy in front of me on a red VStrom almost took out a tall guy who just ran out between the stopped vans. Did well to avoid him.

kennington lane right by the bridge at vauxhall was were i took out that guy who ran at me. seeing to be a bad area for them running out

Oh and there was another time when I was approaching hnager lane coming back from the ace, filtering through, all of a sudden I had to do an emergency brake for a pedestrian, ended up doing a stoppie!! :stuck_out_tongue: Turned out to be a black bin liner blowing through the traffic!! :hehe:

Jesus, I hope everyone involved was alright :frowning: doesn’t sound promising though…:’(

Did you pretend you meant to do it afterwards?

Yeah find this with the bus lanes, if there’s stationary traffic on the right pedestrians will still cross at the lights when they are green, and don’t even look for buses, let alone bikes!

Lol, nope was fun though :stuck_out_tongue:

Holloway road is one of the worst roads for this!

There was very heavy traffic on South Lambeth Road coming from Stockwell as a result of this, although thankfully for us the bus lane was completely clear. This was about 7.30am. Lots of medics/police activity on the right hand side on Parry Street, I had assumed it was a stabbing as two areas were cordoned off (including the sheltered housing block on the left) and I saw no vehicles (or victims for that matter), but I was concentrating on getting away! There’s a nightclub there called “Fire” - usually still open with punters outside it on Monday mornings! - and a couple of years ago I saw the immediate aftermath of a stabbing that took place at the back of it, with a bloody handprint on the wall and police in attendance. Not a nice thing to see on your morning ride into work.

I hope all involved in this morning’s incident are ok.
