Another bike stolen.

Got a call from a mate last night, distraught, his fireblade has been nicked. The thieves struck at 20:00 last night in the New Malden area. The bike was in a locked garage, alarmed and chained. Neighbours heard commotion but thought it was my friend. The thieves (were at least 2) broke into the garage and set the alarm off. They then broke into the house and ransacked it causing a lot of damage. The things they took, the keys and alarm fob. A set of black and white BKS leathers. An Arai RX7 helmet in black. Fortunately, he was not home when they struck.

The fireblade was yellow and a 2002 model. Due to a few incidents this year it had no side fairing panels on it and much of the rest was stuck together with yellow gaffe tape.

The police had not turned up an hour and half after he reported the crime.

In the middle of the night he got a call from the police, bikes been found. The thief had crashed and was lying in ICU in Kingston hospital.

So he sort of gets a result. They caught the criminal who stole his beloved but tatty fireblade. The criminal is lying in hospital in a bad way, just deserts some would say.

The worrying thing for me is, what would have happened if he had been at home? His house must have been being watched, the bike was in a locked garage and chained and alarmed. With a few of this type of incident happening in the ondon area recently can everyone make sure they are vigilant. See anything suspicious, go report it.

Lets hope the guy in ICU has a very very painfull long recovery, it seems to be getting worse recently and it looks like they are prepared to go to any lenght to get the bike they want.

Sorry to hear this has happened to your friend. we all seem to be hearing about this more and more lately. Apart from ancoring your bike to the ground it doesn’seem theres anything you can do to stop this scum from nicking your bike anymore. i would never want anybody to die from stealing a bike, just to loose both legs would do, but i’m glad to hear that he has some serious injurys that will remind him of what he has done. Hopefully he is insured and can get a bike in better condition than before it was stolen.

Bloody Hell, London is going mad! Glad they got one of the theives, though can they prove he stole it, or was merely riding it? It makes a huge difference! Just think, your NI contributions are paying for this scum-bag to get better! It makes my stomach turn! Hope this has a happy ending, let us know more when you do Chuffster.

Was shocked when I got the call last night, just glad he wasn’t in when the theives turned up.

The guy in question who had his bike nicked was the organiser of the www.BoxHill.co.uk charity run last Saturday, not that anyone deserves to have their bike nicked, but there are few less deserving than AJ

Sh!t, I hope your mate manages to get it all sorted.

I don’t understand whats going on at the minute, every day there are posts on all the forums and groups about bikes being nicked. I guess this one shook me as I’ve an 02 Blade and I didn’t think people would be that interested in the older ones, especially if there was a bit of security around them. But if they are prepared to break into your home, what’s next.

My thoughts go out to your mate.

If I was your mate I would be in Kingston ICU looking to unplug a few wires! Don’t believe the thief wouldn’t do the same to you

jeez, this is getting way outa hand and starting to scare me a bit cos i’m often riding home v late at night on my own… i’m just glad your mate wasn’t in at the time, doesn’t bear thinking about what could of happened if he was.

has the level of bike theft always been this high in london and its just now there are networks like LB to draw attention to it that its seems like there’s a big jump in the frequency or is it rapidlly increasing cos the likelyhood of being caught (unless the theif cant actually ride and dumps himself in a ditch until the police come along that is) is v v slim?

Well if the bike was crashed he may be able to get all new fairings!

I hope everything gets sorted and tbh, i hope the robber dies in ICU, he is wasting good NHS money that could go to som1 more deserving.

I think this year has been especially bad for bike thefts… It seems like everybody I speak to knows somebody who just had their bike stolen. The other difference is that they are stealing bikes which are locked away, alarmed and heavily chained… it’s not just bikes that are easy targets.

I can’t help but think there are just a handful of gangs constantly roaming the streets picking up bikes who are responsible for the major rise in London. Why can’t the police plant more decoys?

Chuffster, do you know what ward he is in? … perhaps we could pay him a torture … sorry, I mean visit!!

I am deeply shocked and disturbed by this news… YET AGAIN!!! Chuffster, please give your friend our regards…

It would be very interesting if that little sh1t in the hospital, got quite a few visits, (If you know what I mean!!!) Make his unworthy life even more hell!!!
I know it’s not good wishing anyone harm… But, I’m glad he crashed…

Bet you feel like paying the thief a visit in ICU and standing on some wores or something that are feeding him. Pr1ck! To actually walk in to your house to get the keys, to have the nerve to then get the leathers after getting the bike. Scum. These scum that do this are likely cr&p riders if they knick a bike to joyride. This one must have been ordered and the turkey smashed it on the way to the drop off/ lockup.

Get well soon… not.

I hope you’re insurance pays out mate.

Andy, they’re too busy looking for terrorists, I would have thought, either that or illegal immigrants. There seems to be a hundred other crime epedimics with a higher priority than bike-theft, despite how aggressive it’s obviously becoming.

Pixie, whilst theft is increasing, don’t be too put off, as the issue is probably also compounded by the fact that we’re now about to come together and share this information, so we’re finding out more about these crimes where we otherwise wouldn’t. London’s a big place, there’s always something going on, but you can’t let it change the way you live your life, otherwise they win and you lose.

Have spoken to AJ, he’s off work today trying to sort out the mess. Just glad he wasn’t at home when they broke in, the bike is replaceable at least.

What is quite heart warming is that he’s been offered loan of leathers & a bike to use on a track day that he has booked for the end of the month, what a nice lot us bikers are eh

I understand that the bike is a write off, it was insured and as stuipulated in his insurance it was alarmed and locked when it was stolen. I offered use of my trusty old ZX7 for his track day at Brands this weekend but so far he has not taken me up on the offer. he has had all sorts of support from people in the biking fraternity and I thank everyone for their kind words, I shall pass them all on.

As for what I would do to the dude in ICU, bumping him off would be too fast, need to be far more vindictive, loss of thumbs is the way forward, think about it, how much do you use your thumbs for. (OK, I am an evil git!)

Interesting the scumbags broke into the house to get his keys . . . It happens a lot with expensive cars and skillless thieves, if somebody really wants your bike and does not know the pikey tricks to get past alarms and any chain then getting in your house and getting hold of the keys & fob becomes by far the easiest option.

That’s scary - i’m just down the road from New Malden…do you really think it’s the same lot that are loading the bikes into white vans - stealing to order? Sounds more like opportunist thieves to me…the white van lot aren’t interested in keys and leathers, more the bikes Unless they just got greedy…

Very scary nonetheless though, as was mentioned before he was clearly being watched…

I remember about 2 years ago the van-thefts of bikes were happening like this, with a huge amount in a short space of time, then a ring of people got nicked for it - and it stopped for a while. But as mentioned before, between this and the Ninja forum i can name at least 8 or 9 bikes gone in the last 2 weeks…an old blade off the ninja crew too…surely terrorism or not, when they start getting aggressive such as with this theft and with the R1 aggravated theft the other friday they have to sit up and take notice and do something to protect us?

Hope all concerned are ok and that the blighter in A&E is in pain for a long time.

Sorry to hear. Be careful everyone.

I feel for this guy, I’m still going through it myself but am doing my best to carry on as you have to.

So the theif fell off the bike - good serves him right, hope its extremely painfull, cos violating someones world and taking there hard earned things is f*****n painfull.

Thanks again to everyone for there support, if Chufsters friend gets the support I’ve had I know it will help
