Annoying!

Got a parking ticket for the bike being just outside the driveway and on the pavement at the front of my house, literally left it ticking over there while I went back to lock the front door

I could contest it - the guy doing it even gave me a method for doing so, but my tax is overdue by nearly a week (my bad I know, honestly didn’t realise till the day before I got the ticket and planned to do it by end of this week…), the guy didn’t note this on the PCN and has actually put the expiry date as todays date (either doing me a favour or didn’t care to check).

Either way my choices as I see it is…

a) Pay the PCN
b) Contest the PCN but risk them cross referencing my details and seeing I didn’t have tax and pay a bigger fine for that

He said I could contest it by sending a letter from a different address saying I broke down there and knocked on the door to ask for assistance and that he’d put a note on the system to back my story up. Just wondering if it’s worth drawing attention to myself and them then checking the situation with tax.

Again, not trying to worm my way out of paying for something - afterall no tax so it’s just karma I guess but if anyone has any advice (specifically regarding the point as to wether they will check up my tax situation or not) I’d appreciate it

If you hurry up and buy tax backdated to when it ran out, I would take the guy’s offer of getting out of the ticket - they cancel loads of parking tickets.

Dont trust the scum bag. They’re full of lies and will tell you anything while you’re there. If you want to contest the ticket, do so. Maybe say you weren’t parked there but merely stopped because you got a cramp in your leg and had to get off the bike to stretch it but the engine was running and you were steps away from the bike. If you go the broke down route, get a friendly garage/recovery/mate with a van to wrtie in saying they recovered your vehicle from said address.

Whatever you do - do not rely on anyhting the traffic warden said, I cannot stress that enough.

What a b@stard, i would contest it.

What are you contesting…bad parking or no tax?

I think Whistler has got it about right.

Get the tax promptly before you get the letter from Swansea, pay the ticket, learn the lesson.

Oh, leaving it ticking over on the pavement could have resulted in two further penalties and your insurance was invalidated the moment you walked away from the bike. You probably got off light.

In theft maybe.

I’m confused, car/bike tax always expires at the end of the month, not mid way through it…

If the bike is registered to you living at that address, then you can hardly claim you were just passing by & stopped can you?

Looking at your avatar, you’re obviously a hardened repeat offender anyway & consequently deserve to have the book thrown at you! :hehe:

Did the CEO take a photograph of the bike and where it was parked.

Is pavement parking enforceable where you left it - a lot of councils still allow bikes to park as long as they’re not causing an obstruction.

I agree with the above about not trusting him. If he was a good sort he would have let you off in the first place. He’ll get commission if the fine goes through, think what you’d do in his situation.

Join up with pepipoo if you haven’t already and post a copy of the PCN (sensitive details blacked out of course). If the wording of the PCN is incorrect you can get off on technicalities.
Also they have some knowledgable people on there who may be able to spot an irregularity.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the tax - again back date quickly to avoid the possibility, but I doubt the council will check.

Too late, they already have. (Unless the warden had one of the older hand helds.)

The latest machines automaticaly do the full plate recognition check against the full banana of tax, etc. It’s how they get your address for the enforcement notice. It’s also how vehicles are flagged up for seizure.

That’s why it’s important to get it taxed ASAP.

+everyone else if they have any sense about them.

Hahaha just saw that
