nice mate, like those covers. where are they from? how much light (all?) do they cut out and do you have to whip 'em off after daylight hours?
obviously not the same bike but been looking for some mirror options myself, would like to get rid of the big ol OEM ones but dont fancy central without any at all.

i’d like to do like the attached - get the rearsets in black, powder coat the footrests, headlight covers etc.
what do you think to the red galfer brake lines?

or you could powder coat the whole thing?

Those R1s look sey a f&k!
With the headlight covers doesnt it leave nasty white square velcro pads on your headlights when you take the covers off?
I got them from Skidmarx, I can get you a set if you want? I have black ones which cut out all of the light from the headlights which looks mean in the daytime, then I switch to a dark tint on one of the headlights, so the light still shines through clearly at night time… So I bought two sets from Skidmarx!
The Red Brake lines look good Ben, have you done that or looking to do it?
You should get a set of Gilles / Harris / Sato Racing / etc rearsets and then my guy Marlim can do your rears in black, thats what I am doing! With the Headlight Covers I don’t mind switching because its quite simple to do so… I’m using a velco pad around the lens to get the covers closer to the headlight but the standard fitment you get with it is ok still!

Yeah they do Tel, but i saw hennesy earlier comming towards me in cowley it does look sleek and ya only gonna take em off at night anyways so does it really matter
on my old R6 i had blue vynil over my headlamp covers with loads of holes in when the lihjts were off they looked blue but when they were on the light shon through white
Well mine never come off Terry but yes if you have to take the covers off at any point there will be the white square plastic sticky pads left on the headlight… Alternatively use velco like I’m guna do and switch between dark tint and black covers for night and day time use!!!

Simon I was going to stop and say hello but I was taking the girlfriend to work and had just come from my estate agents so was in a bit of a rush! I was actually shouting in my lid “You alrite mate?” but obviously you couldn’t hear me, lol
Ain’t I kind letting you go and all aswell!!

Yeah cheers dude, i thought it was black 999 with the little light in the middle then i clocked it was you just filling up the tank and pumping up me tyres for france bringing it home and giving it the once over and a good clean as it wont be going nowhere till saturday now ill through me luggage and **** on tomorrow afternoon ready to rock and roll…
Cool Cool Cool! Have a good time mate, ride safe and yellow side up ^
-Damian
cheers fella, hopefully bring some sun back
could you please!!!
I’m really getting fed up of getting caught in the rain…

um, nope - i’m technically back to square one as all this waiting for the repair has actually been a waste of time - they found more damage and its been written off. working on getting it all approved then hopefully pick up the new bike next friday. should be able to get the mods back from the last bike (exhaust, indicators, screen etc), then do the security (again)
have also got some black CRGs now (the levers were knackered) but will have to get around to fitting them at a later date (not 100% sure how to do it basically)
not sure on the red lines - would like to see them in the flesh before going to that much trouble. given past experience i’m not sure i want stronger brakes for a while either
how much does the powder coating cost? could you do it to the standard pegs as well or would it not be worth it?
how much are the covers?
Written off… **** man thats not good what did they find that constituted that???
oh ok mate, hope all goes well! What else did they find wrong then?
If you need a hand fitting anything, give me a call man, lol on the stronger brakes! I’m not sure about the cost of doing the pegs and rearsets but I will call him and get back to you on that one… Personally I would get some good rearsets as it does look amazing! Downside is obviously price and falling off as you’ll probably have to get new ones if you snap a peg… its entirely up to you though!
Covers are £22.50 but for you I will do them for £19.00… it might be worth getting the two sets like mine (pure black and dark tint) and just switching one over at night! Again up to you!

dunno dude, i prefer to get a new bike if i’m honest. there was already 4500 grand worth of damage being repaired (and thats not the original estimate but the repairing panels, spraying etc). when damage gets that costly do you have the same faith in the machine? it’ll never be perfect again which aint great for a 4 week old bike
basically when they stripped it down fully at the end of last week/start of this they discovered that the was damage to the headers other sections were cracked, presumably due to the wheel impacting back into the bike. looking at fair few more parts, more extensive labour action and thats not guaranteeing there wasn’t anything else wrong.
bit pissed that they didn’t fully strip it in the first place and not had me waiting an extra month tho
Seriously not good man, you might get all sorts of problems because of the wheel impacting back into the bike… Hopefully it all works out though whatever you decide to do.
What’s on your mind at the moment about what to do with the bike? You can’t just bin a £8800 bike can you?
-Damian
Personally i want to be seen on the road as much as i can to the extent of buying an even brighter headlight bulb… the headlight covers may look cool but i dont think that i would want them and not be seen by stupid cage drivers
i cant help but think if you were to have an accident with dark covers over light and no mirrors what the insurance would have to say, you know they try to wriggle out of paying in any way that they can!
R6 is an awesome bike but i think i’d leave it be, maybe i’d change the large indicators for some brighter, smaller LED jobbies and take some of the plastic away from the back but other than that it looks good as is.
after sseing my mate crash his 06 R6 race bike i think i’d also be temped in some carbon tank protectors!
(has anyone heard about the problems with the pointy bit of the tank wearing thru when in a spill?, spilling petrol & creating nice sparks = not so nice outcome!)
I see where you are coming from MJ, in the day time it is your choice to have your lights on stated by law, most bikes now are always on like mine! I have noticed this point when going down the A40 everyday, and to be honest its still the same old A40 not matter what you do, even if I go down with full beam on you still get cagers pulling out…
Always no matter what be vigilant! Having these covers on in no way effects my riding so Im as safe as I was before! At night changing the cover to a dark tint still has a very bright light and you can see just as good as you can without them on…
Mirrors - Ok obviously now you can see behind you = more life savers!
