Looked ok to me apart from the one solid white line incident. If he had done you for that it would have been imposable to defend
Congrats on Not guilty and ride safe.
You must have a good memory
I had this debate with T.C. earlier in the year, and he never really came back to finish it off. So I am not really sure whether I am right or not, I can only go by what is in the Highway Code.
Rule 129, the solid white line rule, states that you can straddle the white lines to overtake a stationary vehicle, or overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle, if they are travelling at 10 mph (16 km/h) or less.
The question is, what constitutes a stationary vehicle. Some claim this means only a vehicle that is parked. However, my argument is that rule 123 states that you MUST NOT leave the engine running in a parked car. It also says, later in that rule, However it is permissible to leave the engine running if the vehicle is stationary in traffic or for diagnosing faults.
This to me seems to accept that a vehicle can be stationary in traffic. Which is an acceptance within the Highway Code that you can straddle solid white lines to overtake traffic that is queued, so long as it is safe to do so (which is what the rule says).
For me its another attempt of wasting tax payers money.
well done mate!
The wink meant I was being sarcy - I was waiting for someone to bite
Congrats for the not guilty verdict, nice to see the jury has more sense than the police officer. Can’t believe some of the knit-picking in this thread, the only time you crossed the solid white was on a straight with loads of time and a clear view, hardly makes you an accident waiting to happen.:doze:
