Amir Khan vs Michael Gomez

5 cracking rounds of boxing, some huge hits from both boxers…some great boxing to watch…For Khan, its another win i think thats 18 now, he got hurt for sure though tonight - that Gomez body shot was immense and if Gomez would have been a bit younger, i think he’d really have exposed Khan a lot more…and i think Khan would have been in trouble.

Khan had some awesome punches in the 4th and 5th rounds though, as Gomez tired, Khan really took over, he is a very quick boxer, with a lot of power. He looks like he is really growing as a boxer as he gets a bit older which is great to see. But too be honest, if he were to step into the ring with the world champion next fight, I think he might struggle - but then again, its all a part of building the fighter I suppose. I think he is still a few fights away from a world championship though… but its great to see a young english talent continue to grow…and hopefully we will see him with a world championship belt soon!

He gives a great show but they seem to end too quick. I do think that he should have more of a challenge tho when he fights. Seems like he justs blows his opponents over. I think he’s brill but sometimes I do want to see him work and get beaten.

It’s been that way for years and years.

I’m not saying the guys in the ring aint trying, it’s their cynical managers. You match a young and good with a tiring good oldie. It’s a win/win situation.

The young guy gets another scalp, the old guy gets a decent purse on his way to retirement, both managers get richer.

Kahn’s very good, but we still don’t know how good despite the number of bouts.

Spot on there mate, its almost like playing a footballer in the u-17’s, u-19’s and u21’s before putting them into the first team… but i guess there is so much at stake - especially with someone like Amir Khan (and Ricky Hatton before his Mayweather fight) that no one wants to lose that undeafeted record!

I can’t wait to see Amir Khan on the world stage, but i do think, in somewhere like LV with a hostile crowd, fighting a brawler, he’ll come unstuck!

It was good to see him work a bit.

Like you say Kml, growing all the time and he needs a few tough ones to do so

It was the first Khan fight i missed, i went to bed after the football.

I felt bad for Gomez that it got stopped. Sure, he was taking a beating, but he seemed to be obsorbing them all amazingly well… he seemed to feel he was okay to continue when the ref stepped in…

Have to agree. Khan is def an exciting boxer but Gomez has never gone past 6 rounds, tells you something.
Its all about money nowadays, what ever happened to fighting the next best?
Gotta say though I remember the years of Benn and Eubank now they were quality fights.

Khans a great ‘show piece’ boxer - Great for the cameras and his ‘un-defeated’ (Read ‘not yet challenged’) titles help to build the show…

Im sure the promoter was almost crapping himself when Kahn went down - Golden boy has a week side?.. surely not! Gomez is a great brawler - lacking technical finess at times but able to swing some killer blows - Just ask Kahns ribs how they feel today!

We’re unlikely to see Kahn have a serious fight any time soon… its just not in the interest (pockets) of the promoters…

both fighters done realy good , deffo a tuffy for khan , but why does he have to give it the biggun after, the look on his trainers face was " here we go again "

he would’ve seemed like that even if his arm was hanging off.

the guy was dead on his feet and i reckon the ref was right to stop it when he did.

He wouldve just stood and taken the punches no matter what, being able to look like you’re absorbing punches aint good enough in my opinion.
