i have similar but older model and its excellent. i only use it when its cold or on rainy days its 100% waterproof and windproof with decent protections (not tested 
)

Is it true that Gore-Tex products need a kinda particular maintenance?
I heard with time they get damaged with the smog and also they probably need a special spray for a better waterproof action
Nikwax is what I’ve been recommended to use on my goretex jacket… Green to wash, purple to waterproof 
Though unless you shell out for the real top-end stuff I think some waterloggin (where the jacket feels heavy from the water) is inevitable…

I’ve got an Alpinestars RK-5 Goretex jacket I got at J&S a couple of years ago for £250. Warm, waterproof, although doesn’t take long to look filthy. Nikwax washing makes it marginally cleaner, then I use the purple stuff to rewater proof it. Only minor issue is the zips at the cuff end of the sleeve can ride up at motorway speeds - although with careful glove and sleeve planning this can be avoided.
However, as I’ve said here and will say again, Nikwax textile wash doesn’t get your stuff back to looking like new.
So I wonder:
How much does this purple Nikwax increase the water resistance of my jacket?
The longest ride I usually have is 2h. Will I get wet without it? Is it good for any other waterproof non-Goretex item???
Btw, what the hell is going on with is weather?!? Is it the Summer Ghost???
Anything with a Gore-Tex liner will be waterproof. You only need the purple stuff after you wash it.
