It appears I sorely mis-judged Pedrosa…I didn’t think he would have the stones to compete his first year in MotoGP. How wrong I was…it looks like he has the stones to run up front right out of the starting gate.
Was I the only one just THRILLED to see Loris get off to such a great start to the season? Hopefully Ducati have the Desmo sorted out so they can be CONSISTENT challengers this year.
The boy did really well indeed! I also think that he showed maturity when he decided to hold back and keep the second position when Loris went mad and started to push away. Now, I have to confess that I felt lost without Rossi and Barros there… I just didn’t know where to look and who to support??? It doesn’t feel the same way… Where was Gibernau? lol …At least Kawasaki was biting the shit out of Suzuki! lol
I thought he was very mature in backing off, you could hear the crowd going utterly insane and for a young kid at his home GP with the chance to really make his mark on history it must have been very very tempting . . . .
Also, Casey Stoner and Tony Elias had great races, suddenly all the top challengers are fresh out of 250s…they seem to make the adjustment easily, unlike Ellison who is complaining about the transition from 190-240BHP…bizarre, especially as we know he is a top rider…but that is the thing about bike racing, it is a lot of setup and confidence. Gibernau was a bit forgettable before becoming Rossis’ only real challenger, likewise Checa was recently in danger of disappearing as a wasted talent [Careless Chucka] until he electrified the paddock with his times on the Tech3 yamaha preseason
FANTASTIC race! I can’t believe it, action all up and down the field! Loris and Pederosa, wow, those two are on fire! The little Pederosa kid is unreal, he makes the RCV look big, and that bike is TINY!
Rossi didn’t look at ALL pleased with Elias, and seemed to dismiss his apology, which is completely understandable, man, I bet he’s super pissed, but I tip my hat to Rossi for bringing the damaged bike home in 14th with no RHS footpeg, madness!
Suzuki, bah, go home losers! Ellison? Those Dunlops must be cack, or he is, one or the other, shame really, I hope his season improves! Roll on race #2 at Qatar!
Blinding races… Little Danny is one to watch this season… I think Rossi’s got his work cut out this year… Enuff Respect to Rossi though for continuing to finish the race…
It honestly looked like the little guy was going to get up there and show Loris a wheel at a couple of points…he was able to mount a pretty intense challenge before he either backed off to “save” second place or cooked his tires and HAD to back off to stay upright. He carries a ton of corner speed and looks so smooth while doing it. Very VERY impressive. I’m looking forward to seeing how he can run with Rossi (provided they can get the Yamahaw sorted out for the Qatar race…)
Casey Stoner rode a monster of a race too…All this “new blood” is PRECISELY what MotoGP needed…
As an aside, will Suzuki EVER be able to field a competitive MotoGP bike again?! It looks like this years GSV-R is as big a heap of shite as last years.
