All big bikes less than 3 years are at risk of being stolen by pros.My cbr 600 99 is past that date but I still have some security on it. But if I had a less than 3 year bike the security would be like fortnox. Owners need to better proctect their new bikes otherwise they have to post sad messages on this forum.
Never really thought about security :ermm: Thinking bout buying a new big bike, might buy a disc lock or something. you say fort knox ? Wot do you recomend for me to do this ? ![]()
Excellent, as soon as mine gets to 3 years I will stop taking the key out the ignition and cancel my insurance.
I know feel happier about leaving the keys in my 4 year old bike cos I can never find them when I take them out. Have you any ideas what I can do with the chains I used to put on my bike? I don’t need them now.
sort of agree with ya easy and sort of think its crap, depends on whos doing the nicking.
Kids/scrotes wil nick bike weather it is old or not, if its nice looking its going.
If bike is new/newer then ya gonna attract the break/export seller/scrotes.
I might be intrested in them mate, depends really cause i’m not sure wether to go for a smaller bike, then I wont have to worry bout it ![]()
I think that any bike that doesnt have decent security is gonna nicked - under 3 years old or not!
Opportunists/Pro’s/Kids - they dont give a ****!
Why do you want a smaller bike Tel?
Just take a plug lead off and hey presto, a Speed Triple:)
he keeps falling off the big one:)
Tug to save you keep editing your posts, dont get so excited when you got something to post, take ur time mate :D:P
cant help it…
told ya:D
WOW…cor mines only 2 yrs old…id better make sure i keep an eye on it ; Is the tracker, alarm, immobiliser, ground anchor, datatool, smartwater & covers, fact its off the road and round rear of house behind locked gates, not fort knox enough? Is there anything else i can do…oh my god !!! (worry worry, swoon, swoon)…
Sorry…im taking a little bit of the “p” …(just a teensy weensy bit!)
Don’t worry Blade, in 12 months time you will be able to flog the datatool, tracker etc on ebay and sleep soundly without worrying what that noise was downstairs. It almost makes having an old bike worth looking forward to;)
Too right !! cant wait…will save me a bomb !! ![]()
Haven’t Brass Eye covered this. Apparently its mutant bats swooping down and taking all the bikes after checking the reg plate for age.
There is a cave somewhere in Russia where the floor is covered in their guano with loads of rearsets and end cans sticking out of it.
Any bike is at risk.
A year or so ago some idiot tried (and failed) to steal my ratty old 1988 Africa Twin from a bay in Bayswater. It was parked next to newish gixxers etc which were untouched.
Would you steal this?

Cor, from a “bay” in “bayswater”? is that a bit like having a “bath” in err…“BATH”…ha ha…sorry, but how did they NOT manage to get your bike? was it cos it was too dirty for them??? :hehe: Good they didnt get it though, either way…id rather a dirty bike with me than one with them…:w00t:
Sometimes its harder to get parts for an older bike, so its easier to nick a whole bike take the bits you want/need and flog the rest
