Just saw in this weeks MCN a nicelooking (and nice priced) Jacket/trousers by Akito…Never heard of them tho… has anyone had any experience with them? where can i "see/try them?
Blimey thats a name from the past.
Traditionally budget stuff IIRC
Our endurance race team was sponsored by the importers but the riders refused to wear their leathers:w00t:
not exactly inspiring confidence :ermm:
I’m going back 8 years or so. It may have changed now. You get what you pay for generally:)
They’ve been around quite a while,i was looking at the enduro jacket and trousers that was in MCN, decent price for a set,but a lot of people go on the old adage that you get what you pay for !
As with most of the cheaper makes, it varies from garment to garment. Take a good look at what you want, and if it seems well made it probably is. Lots of their stuff looks pretty trashy, but the best pair of winter gloves I’ve ever had in 16 years of riding were Akito, never let in a drop of water and survived half a dozen minor spills over 3 winters of commuting 60 miles a day. Conversely, the worst boots i’ve ever bought were Alpinestars (a mistake I made twice), who usually make pretty decent kit.
Had some akito boots, really ropy quality but were very cheap. Ripped open in a minor spill.
Replaced with alpinestars smx plus which are fantastic, but squeek really bad :ermm:
Mr Sheen or WD-40 is good for stopping boots squeeking. My Vertigos used to;)
to be fare akito has all ways cheap and rubbish,
it all depnds on just how long it is bofere it leaks as in when and not if.
there are lods of good cheapish stuff around like spada,£200 for jacket and trousers
buffalo so just go for the cheapest stuff as it will cost you more in the long run.
Akito… textiles tend to fray at the seams, and the leathers are **** thin! but you get what you pay for ;)Buffalo…used to be good quality leather i still wear my jacket and its about nine years old plenty of life left in it yet;)
‘buy shite buy twice’
