a couple of months ago a mate of mine told me he was gonna have a go at airbrushing, a bit out of the ordinary but no big deal. until you realise he has nothing to do with paint at all, in fact he knew lordy! all about paint or airbrushing and really isnt the arty type, ask him to draw a person and you"d get a matchstick man…just!
anyway he wanted to have a go (just fancied it" he said). personally i thought it was gonna be another 5 minute wonder.
nextday he rang me up to tell me he"d bought a compressor and airbrushes and paint on ebay for £67
i tried to explain to him that a decent airbrush would cost around £200 on its own and that it would be a load of crap (especially as it was all brand new)
well it turned up and he was happy so…
he got a piece of a4 paper and painted a skull, which he then emailed me a picture of…
i was amazed, remember this was a first attempt but i was really impressed, so i suggested he had a play with my helmet, well i had an old lid in the garage that i used as a spare and didnt give a lordy! what it looked like so i gave it to him to launch paint at…
now again, bear in mind its his first ever go, hes not artistic at all and had a load of cheap crap equiptment.
so he"d got this far and then asked me what else i wanted on it… i said, do what ya like m8, i dont care about this lid so dont matter if it fooks up, then what about other colours…do what you like m8… i kept saying to him. tbh i didnt think for a minute it would turn out like this…
ok sorry for the huge post, but iam amazed at what hes done… remember this is his first ever go at airbrushing. the design might not be to your taste, but i just said use the lid as a test, just try different things, never dreamt for a minute it would end up like this…
sorry the pics arnt in order…
thats turned out really good , i especially like the blue bit .
i bought an airbrush and stuff ages ago , well actually my dads friend bought it from a bootsale for me for £20 but its a good one
never got round to using it yet , well except just on paper
would be easier to paint it one colour then have a new design than trying to match the colours and do spot repairs mate… you should have thrown that lid in the bin…cant believe your still putting your head in that!!!
at least get it x rayed to make sure its structurally sound ffs…
I hope you document it with pics Ratty:)Will be interesting to see it:cool:

will do mate, not entirely sure what i wil be doing yet, its Elads track bike, his thinking he wants it to match his crazy leathers!!:w00t::w00t:
Damn good for a first try! Good on him for trying. Amazing what you can do with some odd equipment isn’t it?
I’ve been meaning to try my hand at airbrushing - I’ll have a crack when I’ve worn one of my lids out. I recently used a large compressor and a spray gun to re-spray a fazer fairing. It’s something I’d rather not have to do again!
