After a supermoto

Morning all I’ve currently got a Fireblade and want to get another moto what would you guys reccomend, it’ll be used as my daily so need something reliable

For reliability DRZ or the XT?

For a bit more fun I’d go for a 625 SMC…

How long is your commute?

bought a husky 610 recently and love it. sensible service intervals (although i do mine more regularly) and good value for money. the 610/630 engine is meant to be pretty reliable and mine has been so far (touch wood) and it gets used daily. the worst thing about huskys is the dealer/experienced mechanic support, there ain’t many! encourages you to get more invoved with your bike though which can only be a good thing. though to be honest if i was gonna go through it again i’d pay the extra and get a ktm 690smc. although they are about £2000 more than i paid for my husky so maybe i wouldn’t!

don’t buy a husky though, i enjoy being the only f*cker in london on one!

Dont bother… if you just want it as a commuter then yeah get sumat like the 690… if you want it as you want to play on a sumo then get a proper one or dont waste your time… Ask Motopup who has gone back to a sportsbike or DRB who loves his 690 yet has still gone and brought a proper sumo

I should have gone all out and got a proper SM. I tried to go inbetween and be happy at both ends.

I want and the SM bug soon left…back to sports bikes…

Yeah agree with all that but the op sounds like he’ll be needing practicality and reliability so surely it’s gotta be a methadone supermoto!?

Cheers for all the reply’s, my commute is about 15miles, don’t get me wrong I like the blade but a nearl 6ft it’s not the most comfy, have been considering a drz or fmx650, would love a husky or ktm but think it’ll be gone befor I could say boo

Don’t get an fmx. They are seriously shite. Maybe look at an old xr600. Shouldn’t attract too much attention. Just ride the arse out of it

if u gonna leave the bike in London parking bays than dont bother with KTM’s, they do atract loads of attention
The DRZ is litlle bit underpowered, its got only 5gears which sucks a bit but they are reliable, cheap to run and great fun in the city.

get a streetfighter/naked sports bike then which has a more upright position. Trust me, you dont want the inbetween. If you must though with your hight i would go for the Yamaha XT660, DRZ is too small and as already said the FMX is poop… Driesie on here could tell you more about the XT as he used to have one

Ah, a Mans bike!

I know one that gets loads of attention!

Have the xr’s got steering locks fitted?

Bit of a compromise might be something like the MT-03 - no SM in any real way but it has that sort of feel to it and is reliable and should be comfy for your commute…

KTM690SMC will do all tasks really well

Got CRF450R for SM track days and MX only, would not want to use it on the road.

Definatly want a sm just trying to get the right one to suit me, as I said I would get. Ktm or husky but know it’ll go missing

is this the infamous riot? i have heard the stories told at sea about that bike. never ridden one so dunno what they’re like but they seem the perfect compromise between owning a SM stylie bike that you can leave in bike bays ok?

as for the bike going missing it all depends on your security and where you live. if you don’t have to park it publicly in the day and can chain it up at home to something immovable don’t worry about it fella

Unfortunalty it’s in the puplic eye all day and when I get home it’ll be well looked after

think i’d just get a cosmetically ratty version of whatever you end up opting for. that’ll be your best bet of it not getting nicked but i suppose every bike has a risk of being stolen one way or another

What’s your budget?

Yes.

I wouldnt have a ratty XR6, it’d be a travesty!

I leave my XR6 in town with a disc lock and a chain…I’m not sure if thats why no one has tried to steal it?
