Advice new tyres: Maxxis Diamond or Michelin PR3

I will need to put two new tyres on my Aprilia Shiver very soon. I have heard lots of good stuff about Maxxis Diamond, as well as the Michelin PR3.

But I am still confused as to which ones I should choose!

Can you help / advice? Has anyone on here ever done a comparison between the two:
If, so what is the advantage of Maxxis Diamond over Michelin PR3?
And vice versa?
Why should I choose one over the other?

Are there any other Aprilia Shiver riders on here - if so, when it came to changing your tyres, what did you go for?

Looking forward to reading the feedback from you guys! thanks!!!

I don’t know the maxis tyres but the pr3 have great grip and even better longevity… at a price

+1 PR3

I think we need to ban tyre threads .

Can vouch for the PR3s. Had them on my old CBF600. Excellent tyre.

Alba has a dog called Maxxis (Maxy)
What more of an accolade could a tyre have?

We have a dog called Nina, short for Michelin Pilot Road Three. Mprt was so hard to shout in the park.

Theres £60 odd between the two, for a set.

If you have the extra why not go for the pr3’s? if cost is a problem then go for the diamonds.

I doubt I could push either hard enough on the street to tell the difference.

I’d spend the extra, if I had it, on the pr3’s as I fancy my chances of getting my money back in mileage and as I ride all year round I like the idea of more wet grip and less slip.

Thats why I chose them. I was commuting through the winter. If you are going to stick with the same tyres into
autumn/winter, they are worth the extra money.

Not much of a choice in having them over winter as they last so long that its doubtful that they would die before winter
Unless its the jets

Or a long screw.

Ooh! I am partial to a long screw! but that’s another thread for another day :stuck_out_tongue:

have had maxxis, although not diamonds, andswapped them for PR3’s andthe difference was HUGE! i wont go near maxxis again!

Twin thread or single?

Not fan of maxxis but can vouch for the PR3s, excellent grip in all weathers, heat up fairly quick and last long.

Again… Another thread another time :stuck_out_tongue:

Also depends on the angle, root, crest or flank

haha - great posts!

and excellent advice also… so now I am leaning towards to Michelins! I am going to have a look now to see if there is owt in fleabay…

thanks everyone!

If you buy a pair before the end of the month, send the receipt to michelin & the’ll send you a £25 fuel card, i just sent mine off today
