i think i need to do one

I done it last year and altho the standard was high for the test. I didn’t feel the training was high enough to pass so I didn’t see the point in trying again after failing,I also think I would have had a better fail without the training altogether. I also felt the meeting room wasn’t big enough for the group and ppl didn’t attend to make room for committee members and new commers (west London-Hillingdon).

I’m currently getting training from LAM (London Advanced Motorcyclists). A very friendly group, lots of social activities outside the training itself, especially rideouts.

Apart from all sorts of hints about attitude and actual riding, the best bit is being shown the existance of previously unknown glorious roads within spitting distance of home.

I want/need some, but the IAM down here don’t have a great reputation, I’d rather just receive training (not sure of what sort) than be pushed towards a test that I don’t really want.

Where abouts are you??

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, apparently my work will subsidise half the costs

Apart from of course being safer out on the roads, does it save on your insurance or anything? I would assume it does if you have a test to take?

Thoroughly recommended and a positive bargain at £85 (£65 for under 26’s) including all your observed runs, test fee and an informative book. The only additional cost is a contribution to your observer’s petrol cost.

Many insurers offer a discount for passing the test.

Go to www.IAM.org.uk to find your local group.
