Ok we have established that the food leaves a lot to be desired (E.G. Size, Quality and Price only the view of some people) and keep an eye on your bike when it’s parked there. What about the music! The Dj’s and the bands that play there.
My view is if the Ace Café had not closed the music today would not be Rock and Roll but it would be what ever is currently playing on the radio.
I am aware of the history of the Ace and all that goes with it but come on Rock and Roll day in day out give it a rest I do not mind a bit of it but I do not like it pushed at me every time I go in the place.
I am aware that ya don’t need to go to the Ace but as one of London’s biggest and certainly one of the best-known bike places shouldn’t it reflect the current clientele.
you have to move with the times and I think a revamp to the tune of slotting in a bit of modern nostalgia will work.
As you have said Mike…the Old Skool History and all that is great…but flogging it to high heaven is a bit off…those that its geared to are maybe down there once a month…
The Loyalty is there every week and I think times need to change, changes have been tested…all wrong so far …Chavs in their “Shed of the Week” dont cut the mustard !!
Id like to know what people have on their minds too…any ideas ?
There is gut rot a plenty there, some of the food is ok though but its no more that a hangover cure.
Music is set to the theme of the Ace but they should open up to all sorts not all bikers are in to rock music, I dont like it and I would not go to the ace for a night out on the razz because it is old hat.
They should look into new DJs a comedy night would be a real hoot, maybe even a pod party so everyone can hear a bit of what they like.
I think they cant be arsed and are happy selling cups o rosy lee and plodding along im sure they also think that if it aint broke dont fix it, all that is going to happen is the customer will find another place that will be good for them and the ace in time will have no one as they will not accommodate the new era of biker.
We are now looking for new places e.g the bike meet each wednesay at Haymarket why would this not be held at the ace seeing as its a bikers cafe/bar.
Sorry i see wot ya saying but totally disagree.
taken from the front page of the Ace cafe site:
HOME PAGEAt Ace Cafe London we welcome all who share our passion, based upon the traditions of motorcycles, cars and rock 'n’ roll.
This is your cafe, devised, designed and built by fellow petrolheads, so enjoy the ambience and make the most of the facilities and activities to ensure that its history lives on.
The way of expressing oneself, the music and the machines
may have changed over the last decades, but the spirit
and motivation remains the same, individual and authentic.
So set the wheels in motion and take a journey with us through the unique Ace Cafe London experience!
Wot i am pointing at is thats wot its all about. if you go to a rave and ask for some heavy metal i guarantee you’d be told where to go.
They should’nt have rave/jungle wotever music there cos there are plenty of other places to go to listen to that cr*p (sorry, not my cup of tea, lol).
I for one would like the music to stay and keep away from this P didddy w@nk $hit or Karen West twit! While I’m more into music like Rage, Stone Temp…, Korn, etc I still live with the music at the ace as its part of the history of the place.
The only change I’d like to see at the Ace is more chaps looking out for our bikes and not the twits looking at our bikes for something to take off it
I understand what you are saying gsxr rocker, but bikers come from all walks of life and in this day and age where can I as a biker go to a bike meet and not hear rock music.
What people are trying to say that they should please everyones musical taste’s and up their game on the food.
I for one dont want to go to the Ace and hear crap from P DIddy and 50 cent etc but other people like it and if it would bring more custom to the place only Mark would win, yes the ace has its history but who will remember our days and show it in the history of the ace or will the same old mods and rockers photos be up on the wall.
And the people who keep the Ace alive now will be forgotten and nothing will be rememberd of us and how we went there every friday sunday and bought grub and drink to help it stay alive.
As for bits of bikes going missing well that can happen anywhere.
Your right m8, bikers come from all walks of life but the 1s that have been in it from the start or has always done it will still be here in the yrs to come.
Not saying the others wont stay but i guarantee wll of em wont.
A lot have got into bikes since the bikerboyz/torque films seeing as bikes as the next thing to have.
You can now go to the urban bike fest m8, maybe not every week but i bet they know places that are like that, i bet they wont put on a couple of rock/metal tracks for us? lol
The ace is wot the ace is and if it was to change i think it would turn more people off the place than it does now and that would be the nail in the coffin for the place.
We are all gonna differ on this subject but there should be places for all, maybe not the same place though, lol.
i think the ace is fine the way it is… yes the food is a tad expensive but how else will they make there money? charge u to come in every night?? they have to up keep the place sum how,
the music is fine and so is the company, i think its great!!
Ace food quality is confusing. On Sunday they served us with 44 different choices all at the same time, piping hot, and all very tasty.
On Saturday mornings, even without an ‘event’, they get the orders wrong and the food is lousy.
And GBP1.10 for instant coffee is a blatant rip-off! Come to think of it, so is GBP1 for a tea-bag in a mug filled with slightly-less-than-boiling-point water.
Ffs, the ace is the 1 place i can think of left thats just for bikes/cars and rock and roll lets leave it like that.
Most bike/rock/metal venues get shut down cos the people who own em realise they will make more money been a gay, RnB, house club etc. Lets keep 1 please.
Im a young guy, i dont like the music that is played at the ace, its not my thing,
but its all part of the ambiance as said its an old biker/rocker greasy spoon cafe, keep it how it is…
If i want to go clubbing and hear some r’n’b ile go west end, If i want a (very tasty) plate of cheese and chips at the ace and to chat to some mates and look at some bikes ile goto the ace…
