Hello guys. We’re want to move out from our place. (need something bigger). 
We’re looking for a house near Abbey Wood. What area is that. Is it ok for bikes etc.?
Isn’t Abbey Wood SE London, sort of Thamesmead area, isn’t there a prison around there? 
I think one of the guys at my office lives in Abbey Wood and he has a couple of bikes, he rides in every day, I’ll ask him what the general area is like, if it is indeed the same part of London you’re looking at Pavel.

I live just down the road in Erith been living there for the last three years. Area is ok, alot of kids hanging around but my bike has not been touched as of yet.
I thought Thamesmead was the prison.

Worked this part of London for 40 years and Abbey Wood is OK…in parts. Some bits are very good, some are “don’t even visit”. Thes bits are called Thamesmead.

Ok the guy at my office who lives in Abbey Wood, although he’s nearer Plumstead Corner, says he’s had several bikes nicked in the past, some he got back, one he nearly brained the two guys he caught. He says he’s not had any trouble with any of the bikes he’s owned that had alarms fitted, he routinely sets them off just to remind anyone who takes an unhealthy interest that they are alarmed, plus he has several disc locks/chains/ground anchors to help keep them in his possession, he has no garage so they have to sit outside.
Having said all that he’s looking to move house just as soon as he’s sold his place, he’s hoping to move to Welling as he’s found a place with a garage.

but bike crime is every where thieves dont worry about your post code
it’s a s**t hole , the whole area …abbey wood / plumstead / erith / slade green …etc , etc
it smells of s**t every time the wind blows from the sewage works near thamesmead
when anyone flushes the loo in london it ends up here at crossness …and it stinks , to make it worse the pumps have brocken down at the moment so they are BURNING IT …:sick:
Interesting view point. If factualy incorrect.
Much the same could be said of large chunks of East London, North London, North East London, and so on.
You live where you can afford, and you almost have to check street by street, so sweeping, uninformed generalisations are not a lot of help.
