A Sunday Ride Through Cowley County

The forecast called for sunny skies and temperatures in the 60’s today…OBVIOUSLY a day to have the bike out. It’s not going to get a lot better in January, eh?

I decided to take a blast through the back roads of Cowley County…Cowley County is VERY rural and is dominated by the southern tip of the Kansas Flint Hills…gorgeous country. The route was as follows: Augusta, Leon, Latham, Cambridge, Burden, Winfield, Udall and back home again. Altogether, a trip of around 125 miles.

Here are a few pictures from the day out…

Nice day for it. I wanna ride on your empty roads

Mo is still hiding from the gritters, so no ride out for a while

Nice one Gregman, sure would be nice to get out and hit some good roads here!

Nice pics Gregman! I wish I had the weather to go out here soon!

It WAS fun…the stretch of road between Latham and Cambridge is just killer…the road surface itself is a bit dodgy (it’s chit…a mixture of road tar and gravel…do they have that over there?) but the ups and downs and round and rounds through the Flint Hills are just too fun.

I was SHOCKED and dismayed that I couldn’t get any to come out with me, though…“It’s too cool…too windy…blah blah blah.” A bunch of damnable pussies. ROFL
