Off to work today, a bit later than normal, went outside, nearly fell flat on my ass as the driveway was completely covered in ice. Hrm… Got the bike out, carefully walked it across the ice to a safe area and went to start it. Bzzztt… Nothing. Battery is dead.
I’d used it on Friday and already the cold had killed the battery! Incredible! Bloody annoying, this never happened with my last 1000 even after four winters. This is the 750’s first winter and it’s fallen at the first hurdle
Time to dig out the optimate tonight
I think it was a sign though as I nearly fell on my ass a few times just walking to the train station! Many roads were ice-covered as well.
i popped out to meet a mate for a coffee and a stroll yesterday, i nearly took the bike, but after a stroll around a few side roads adjacent to mine i gave the idea up! very very icy! would be treacherous after dark!:w00t:
I just managed to get home after a snow blizzard zapped me! :w00t:
Wow - not nice. Shocking ice everywhere and a lot of frustrated bike riders. Sorry to see so many motorcyclists struggling out today. Had to stick to the main roads and filter and even then it was hairy with a few slips left and right
I’m comfortable with defeat this time, my near-slick tyres would have been hard-pushed to find any grip
Man, I need the DRZ running! That bike is incredible in this weather. I have a new fuel tank with me now for it, so should have it running soon if I can get it home and worked on.
Well this is not the time to be riding bikes methinks
Rode to Southend on Friday night…A13 was pretty clear bar a few slushy bits between lanes, but as soon as I got on to the final one and a half miles of minor roads, the roads were thick in snow.
Rode feet down, but the GSX-R 1000 engine’s easy torque allowed me to stay in 2nd without any throttle which was useful.
Most car drivers hung back and were patient, but this one cnut in a 4x4 started beeping me and driving on my rear wheel.
Shouldn’t have been surprised I guess. A c*ck behind the wheel of a 4x4 is hardly a rare thing
