A Scooter rider

(to dear moderators) This is not another insulting post about a scooter rider.

We have nice scooter riders here and there is a lot of scooter riders around London.

Ok back to the point:

I gave a lift to me missus on the bike to her work place. My route goes via Trinity Road and near petrol station a 50cc scooter rider IC1 just emerge from the station in front of car nearly cause accident. I ask him to watch another cars and road users. Then I said that he was lucky because car driver reacted in time to avoid hitting him. I asked him where is your mirrors mate? He said: Are you a Police. I saidŁNo, I just a friendly biker. So he started to call me names and I smell alcohol from him. What an idiot. Then we rode off and we carry on filtering then that idiot started to rev his little engine to push me to ride faster. What an idiot I though. I let him go and he started to insult me again and swerve on me in purpose. I just said to him than I know who my father is. :stuck_out_tongue:

In that time I really want to be a Police Officer.

Peace and respect to normal scooter riders.

Pavel

His white van must have been in for a service!

should of got his registration & called police on the alcohol bit!.
:alien:

I know mate, but I was in a hurry. (bad excuse isn’t?)

I’m amazed at how many scooters and motorbikes don’t have mirrors- and invariably these are the same riders who don’t do lifesaver checks or look behind them in any way. Cyclists are the worst offenders for this but there is some hope… I saw some bloke in Brixton with a mirror stuck to the front of his cycling helmet with gaffer tape- bizarre but it looked effective.

Its arseholes like that that give us good scooter riders a bad name, i bet he didnt have a cbt or licence for that.

I would have booted him off.

i would have shown him what a real bike is! hehe:D,

mirrors are not an MoT requirement on bikes/scoots.

half of the ones that do have them selve sod all function other than to rip the mirrors off cars. how many riders in london that dont have mirrors have you watched ride then?

fail to see how not having mirrors makes you less inclined to do a lifesaver? I dont have the main mirrors on my bike, if anything it makes you more inclined to have a proper look

you’d have lead him to a yamaha dealer then?

I see another retarded post on scooter riders. Well done Pavel.

Suggest you re read the thread and then appologise to Pavel for calling him a numpty.

It’s not against scooter riders as general. It’s about that particular scooter rider attitude. Read it properly Vegas.

Smiled told me about your mirrors. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanx for pointing that.

The problem with this sort of thing is that unless you’re a (or look like a) bit of a hard lad, you might run the risk of being stabbed by the same 15yr old that drinks and rides a hair dryer.

What can you do, but just report it to plod (who is too busy anyway) or just stand back and let the wayward rascal crash (I know that’s not ideal).

I’ve ridden a couple of times with no mirrors at all - f*&king dangerous, really. Whatever the roads you need to be aware of what is happening 360 degrees, all the time. And having a ‘proper look’ at motorway speeds just isn’t feasible. I’m not talking a life-saver here, but a full over-the-shoulder. Not advisable. :frowning:

Less of the “hairdryer” please. There’s just no need for it, as you will doubtless find out when you’ve been riding for a bit longer and discovered that idiots come in all flavours, and ride all sorts of bike. As do the nice helpful people on this forum.

A learner legal auto is generally slightly faster than a learner legal geared bike. And both of their engines sound pretty weedy.

AM I A NUMPTY? Well i must be cos i own and ride an aprilia sr50! its had all the usual stuff done to it to make it more like 100cc, i also own and ride a hornet 250 and a 600, now dont get me wrong i love me bikes but the scooter is brilliant for nipping thru town on and it is hard NOT to weave in and out of traffic, cos compared to the hornets the pocket rocket is so lightweight and easy to chuck around, and must admit following these kids on them nowadays is fun but scary! but anyone who i can smell alcohol on and is riding dangerously is going in the gutter!

i’ve already had 2 lads try and grab me keys! but i kicked one of them off he didnt look older than 14 luckily the coppers who’d been following them caught him and he was high as a kite god only knows what he’d taken!

So please don’t tar ALL us scooter riders with the same brush…i is a biker at heart;)

I was once taken to the airport by a taxi driver and I started to notice his driving was a bit eratic, I was late for a plane so wasnt too bothered that he was going a bit fast. Anyway when I got to the airport and he came to the boot I could smell his breath. It then hit me he was drunk. I immediately called the taxi firm…and they said they were calling the police. However a policeman on the airport spotted his erratice driving on the way in and he was stopped at the airport, he was banned from driving, the taxi work was his part time job, he was a milkman, so driving was his living…silly person…do feel sorry for him though apparently he had been presurised into working because they were short of drivers…and whilst his driving was odd it was not dangerous…but we all know that we should not drink and drive so its no excuse…
