A&R race baffles

Has anyone fitted A&R race baffles to their bike?

I have just put a pair on my 08 R1 and I think they are just too noisy!

Also has anyone experienced fuelling problems at mid revs because of this.

I fitted mine together with a cat bypass pipe and a k&n filter and the bike was just bogging down off the line and felt like it was starving.

I replaced the stock air-filter and it seems to have improved, but at about 40 mph in 4th or 5th it seems to be almost miss-firing?

Any help?

I know i probably need a power commander now, but should it be behaving like this?

need it set up with a powercommander and dyno mate. Read about this on the yamaha or r1 forum.

Helped JB do his a while back to his 06 R1, yep they are loud but in a more Bass’y way, they don’t seem to get much louder at higher revs.

mate of mine just did his 08 R1 with the kit and i said to him that i reccomend that he got some extra wadding with it. to be honest i think they need the extra wading to quiten them down a fair bit! try some extra wadding (you can get this off eBay or Demon Tweeks)

TBH i don’t really wanna open the cans again, i might just fit some standard ones back on, I’m really more concerned about the starving e.t.c.

added an extra layer of packing to the A+R kit - taking the end caps off and revitting is a pretty quick job tbhdidn’t find the bike misbehaved at all when i did it (altho hadn’t done the cat and air filter at the time).

stuck the power commander on just to be on the safe side with lean running etc (and it was cheap).

PCIII defo sounds like the first step for yours. got a few of the custom maps downloaded for what you’re running, if you get one let me know

I might add some wadding in the next couple of weeks, meanwhile I removed the Y pipe and replaced the standard filter and the bike seems much smoother now. Thanks for your help guys

go and get a power run on a dyno to check the fueling, will cost you about £25, its just to be safe and say your engines not running lean so it wont blow up. then when ya get yourself a PC (look at buyign from the states) then you can chuck it all back on and get it set up properly!

you can get the packing pretty cheap on ebay - you’ll find two layers makes it pretty snug when you get the baffle back in. also means that the internal perforated tube is held in place more (even tho the end cap and lip in the bottom of the can hold it in position, it has a tendancy to vibrate making more noise otherwise i found)

also the instructions say to wrap the copper wire sheet round the tubing first but it doesn’t have sound insulation properties and apparently can make it more straight through tube and therefore more noisy. i didn’t use it when i repacked it.

sound test reading at brands is 98dbs from the static reading now

Can you recommend anyone in particular? I need to get my R1 sorted.
