Pan without you I’d probably feel pretty capable but thanks anyway for that timely inferiority reminder just to put me back in my place … you TART! :hehe:

anytime mate

This should be made into an advert.

It IS an advert… TFL use this, and I’ve seen shots of this in bus shelters and on the backs of buses…

Thats not the blind spot, thats the complusory organ donation spot.

It got incorrectly adjusted mirrors…probably from the cyclists helmets hitting them…

You’re right h9fan, the lhs bottom mirror is the blind spot mirror and if correctly adjusted (with the help of an additional mirror above the passenger door facing down) you can see everything that’s going on along the whole side of the lorry.

The Keltbray / Primagrange fleet got this …

thats awesome

It aint bad atall … It’s since been upgraded further to include a camera on the newer trucks

its not the mirror out of adjustment, its the angle of the tractor unit preventing that view, 0.13 sec’s into the video the blind spot mirror does show the whole side of the trailer but at 0.31 it shows the truck is already turning causing a bigger blind spot…

The blindspot cannot be fully eliminated when the lorry is in an angle but I’ve learnt a bit about adjusting mirrors during my 10month travel around Europe in a lorry similar to the one in the vid. I also learnt to give them room and stay back

wish all cyclist knew they’re supposed to hang back and not creep up on the inside or ride close to any kind of large vehicle when turning…

that top mirror helps but just to see a front wheel and things next to it not 3 foot of . That lorry is turning so all the driver can see is a trailer and that is all. I use to drive them in Estonia as a mechanic and most of driver are old school and don’t use all mirrors. all we do is make fuss about them not looking after us but we ride like we own the roads at least some of us . I use to be on of them who was riding like I stole it . Now I know that you have to ride on the road with one thing on your mind " Every body else is a idiot " so look after your self not what every one else is doing wrong on the road ! How many of bikers you know who follows the law to the dot ? And gets a new helmet every time they drop one on the floor and so one ? Ride in a correct kit and correct speed ? I learned my lesson by loosing my custom bike and everything what I had to realise that speed is not everything and in case of accident it was probably my fault . But yes every one has a right to live life like they want .

Like sucking eggs on here sometimes… (it is, it isn’t, it is, it isn’t). “Yes” the units at an angle, the door mirror is designed to spot cyclists among other things. The blind spot mirror is designed to NOT LOOK at half the side of the unit, it’s supposed to be out further.

We had this in the “DRIVERS CPC” training 2 weeks ago, and all drivers and instructor agreed it was incorrectly possitioned.
