I’ve been watching a tape over the last week or so (a race or 2 at a time).
What a season for racing!!
Was it really that good or is it cause things on the racing front are a bit dry off season?
I’ve not seen this season, though all races are available on MotoGP.com, amazingly. I’ve watched a few highlights from yester-year, and they’re great, they fall off left, right and center!
I went to the Cataluyna GP in 98. If my memory serves me correct Criville hopped off early doors and Biaggi was blacked flagged.
500 racing was special, much more difficult to ride fast than a 990CC 4 stroke.
It’s a shame actually, cos in most of the the 2nd half of the 90’s, Doohan was so far ahead of the game, that it kinda killed it as a race.
Blimey, 98 - first race of the year at Sugo, and 500CC rookie Max Biaggi ****s off and leaves 'em all for dead.

I still rate him as a good rider i think he’s just lost his way tbh
I think Rossi is what has happend to Max, he is a better rider and max can handle that also its the mind games that they play too.
Max is still a very good rider and if he does goto wsb then I hope he does well, he should do.
i thought that was sort of over that feud they used to have?
Ah well, WSB will be a better place with Max i reckon…can’t be a bad thing can it!!

I know what you mean, but the stats say that '98 was the closest 500cc racing for 300m years! It was only the last 3 races that Doohan mopped up. Before I went out today I slipped in a '92 500 GP, just the commontator’s voice made it sound boring. Huwen/Rider combo always was my fav…

98 was more fun to watch than it had been for a long time.
Huwen/Rider combo are also my fave! The WSB “classic” tapes I have (96-99) are made by them! Always seemed to be really excited by it themselves.
I cant wait for the 800cc gp bikes, its going to make them more peaky so we could get that highside city back

Not sure how the capicity change will effect things. Maybe it will help Honda, they spend more money than anyone else on R&D.
