Every time I get tested they give me a different result, last time my can made 105dbs, got an off road one from triumph, yours sounds more grunty, but you shouldn’t worry about it, I’m sure you’ll pass the noise test, there are a lot of bikes who frequent brands and are a lot louder than ours
I was thinking about going down before the trackday to get noise tested, but after hearing some other bikes on youtube videos at Brands I reckon mine is no louder and so am not gonna bother. I am going down to HM Racing in Kent next Friday to have my suspension set up for me (something I’m clueless about) and may give Brands a call to see if anything’s going on there, seeing as I’ll be quite local. If they happen to be noise testing I may as well get it done for peace of mind but I reckon we’ll have nothing to worry about.
When I was at HM Racing getting my bike dynoed last week a guy in there with an RSVR Mille said his exhaust apparently put out 102db, and that thing made my ears bleed just idling!!!
If I do go it’ll be next Friday, and only cos I’ll be pretty close to Brands and would like to check the circuit out before the day too. I honestly don’t think the noise is gonna be an issue for me, but I haven’t heard your bike so can’t say for you.
I’m guessing the noise limit on racedays, inc WSB and SBK, is also gonna be 105db and there’s no way my bike’s louder than those puppies!
See you at Brands mate; I’m getting butterflies just thinking about it!
The Akropovic on my ZX6R is probably a similar length and has no baffles either, just a straight through pipe that people who follow me complain about because it’s pointing at face height . . . but it comes in well below 105 db at 7000 rpm. My 750 was also tested at 7000rpm at Cadwell with a straight through Yoshi TRS pipe and came in at 104 apparantly.
Just take the baffle with you so you can put it in if needed then take it out after lunch, or briefing . . .
if its a properly made race can it should come out at 105 or below - it cant be used for racing either otherwise.
i’d take the baffle but get it measured first without - you’re allowed to go back up again anyway so you can then retest it with the baffle in if you fancy it, or if it turns out you’re going to need to
incidentally, depending on the track its not just the static test thats an issue - some have the trackside meters setup and technically they can black flag you if you’re roasting past with enough noise to make peoples ears bleed (its been mentioned at a couple of track briefings now). dont think they tend to bother too much with this at the moment, but then again they didn’t used to bother with the static tests either so worth bearing in mind
only ever seen them using the on track testers at donny at that was a quiet day (98db) so no worries for brands.
you will be absolutely 100% fine with that can on your bike arnie. Take the baffle for noise testing and it’ll pass easy peasy. Whip it out right after back in your garage and enjoy the day.
