600 super sport

hi
after years of commuter type bikes, i want to get a 600 sport bike, any suggestions and the faults to look for.
spending £4000 max and it will be used just as a toy.

there’s obvious HPI checks making sure its not a write off, the older the bike the more you should keep an eye on the frame welds.
apart from that i think its pretty much the same as any other bike, check the brakes, electrics, make sure it starts / runs, test ride and then away!
though tbh i don’t know much.

also, on a side note, im selling my 1997 ZX6R, needs some work done to it but only asking £650 for it so well within your budget.

good luck and happy hunting.

been looking on web and for money i could get a early cbr900 fireblade.
apart from crash damage, any owners out there know what things go wrong with model, electrical or engine.
looking 2000 to 2003
thanks

for 4k you can do a lot better than an early firebland

I paid just over that for 2008 GSXR 1000

First decide what you want apply that to the Auto Trader search criteria and it’ll throw up more offers than you could shake a stick at

Type = Super Sports
Min cc = 600 [unless you want less, less can sometimes mean more]
Max cc = 600 [unless you want more, more is always more]
Min price = £2,500.00 [avoids the bargain basement offers]
Max price = £4,500.00 [because you’re going to haggle it down]

Although the problem with buying a second hand super sport is that every previous owner would have revved the nuts off it, time and time again. Otherwise what’s the point?

Simples, where’s me meerkat?

the R6 is awesome at filtering. as its the R1, fireblade and 600rr from the same year 2003.

as others have mentioned you should be looking at a lot newer bikes i sold an 08 plate daytona 675 mint condition with only 6000miles for £3800 last december.

the 929/054 blades have stator issues as far as aware and also regulator seem to pack up on them a awful lot also
the downpipes are nightmare also as the link pipe is not seperate on 929 personally look newer then them the 1000rr good blades

what kind of bikes interest you and riding style be use for?

thanks for your answers.
i want it just for a weekend bike.
possibly do a track day just to see what its like.
i like smaller high rpm type bikes , lightweight, grew up on two stroke 250 / 350 bikes and want a modern version of that type of bike.
