I’ve just heard on the news that the government are looking at plans to increase the penalty for speeding to 6 points and if caught twice in 2 years you get a SIX MONTH BAN:crazy:
I was thinking about this this morning, and realised that I’d have lost my license whilst going round Hyde Park Corner and Marble Arch if this new law was in now.
The crazy thing is that imho it’s not inappropriate for me to reach speeds of up to 45mph on those roundabouts most mornings. There are no pedestrians, the traffic was flowing freely, and wasn’t going significantly faster than the rest of the traffic.
well you can get 6 points for one offence already. I had 6 points on my licence from 2 offences, and then got caught doing 57 in a 30, and got given 6 for that one. then a six month ban for totting. this happened in 2003, so it already happens.
the net is slowly closing in…speeding is the crime of the 21st century…even though we all know it isnt and its the cynical ploy of the government to try and keep us focused on spedd rather than the lack of investment into safer faster roads…
seems we have forgotten what roads are about…getting from a-b as fast and as possible…
I reckon we should abort roads altogether… Just get an offroader and do what the romans did! Right, which way is west? turn bike round right, lets go… =3=3=3=:Wow:
Yeah I saw it in the papers too. Maybe it will maybe it won’t be law.
We’ll just have to be more careful where we open the throttle won’t we?
If you take out the serious speeding that’s been seen on here recently, I don’t remember too many FPN offences for speeding being publicised. Perhaps we’re already being good enough to avoid getting caught.
Probably January/February more like. I got caught in the September and my court date wasn’t until the end of January. I didn’t even hear anything until then either.
Just wanted to say, Don’t say dumb crap like this on a live forum.
Fine you break the rules ALL the time. But there are representatives of the Met on here. Now fair enough they’re mostly sound blokes, (cept the one’s that keep nickin me ) and they tend to turn a blind eye, but telling them to their faces that you break the limit all the time, and expecting them to look the other way is a) naive and b) pretty dumb. As officers, they have an obligation to pursue crimes where they find it, so if you rub their noses in it, that creates a bit of a dilema for them which ain’t fair really is it?
Think before you boast cos boastin isn’t big or clever…it just means you got a little knob and want everyone to think it isn’t…
