Well the season end is neigh. And as a result i planned to do this route before the winter season fully kicks in and makes the days REALLY short. This is a GREAT ride, it involves some of the finest roads in the country via finchingfield, newmarket and finally and we end up in Norfolk.
Don’t worry i speak the language so ordering fuel and food won’t be a problem but i do suggest you don’t enter any swimming competitions you plan to win.
The pace of the ride will be brisk but friendly - I will be on the GS with pillion so is suitable for all big bike riders. The route does involve some more "back roads and a ford and maybe even a gravel section for fun if we all fancy it - ask Scorch its lots of fun!
We also attempt to ride the worlds most bumpy road, stop and eat at a great pub for some good grub and its a bloody good day. It is a 250 mile plus day but actual milage is difficult to guess but plan for 2/3 tanks of fuel.
Cornerman system will be in use i therefore need a volunteer for back marker. 30 means 30 all riders are expected to show high regard for each other and others on the road. No nobbers, close followers or silly over takers. Hedge trimmers buy fuel for the day for everyone.
We will be meeting at the Ace Cafe at 8.30am for a 8.50am departure. Be fully fueled up as for once you will run out before me!!
This ride will go ahead regardless of weather as I’m such a hard core geezer
Mr J’s theory, and he’s the science boff’, is to keep the throttle open and then some, it worked on the the Bonne’. Just when you start to wonder what will fall off first the suspension tunes in to the road surface for a perfectly smooth ride. Some prefer the safer option of keeping it under 40, I know of several incidents where bits have fallen off, mainly top boxes, panniers and plastics although I remember a rear calliper that made a bid for freedom at 60 mph :w00t:
If the route also involves Forty Foot Bank then look out for the rearward facing average speed cameras.
I remember riding the worlds most bumpy road standing on my pegs like I was riding a race horse, till my legs got tired and I had to slow down. Does the Ford have a bridge?
Dunno what you’re worried about Adrian, you’ve completed your last few hundred miles without any front wheel bearings, bumpy roads shouldn’t pose much of a problem
