48hr Van Hire

Great idea, but what about the olive trees?

Send pics of them on the back of the bike.

Feck…

Update

Rode up to BSD Performance from North London at 6.30am, but due to traffic and getting lost in Peterborough was a 2.5hr ride. I really need to think about a solution for sat nav at some point.

BSD guys there are great, and there were some lovely bikes including some track specials. Bike was remapped (there is something about hearing your bike howl on a dyno) and given a clean and strong bill of health with the 990 making very good power. It’s had a few tweaks which all look to have been working as intended. Most importantly, and the reason for going, the crappy low energy throttle response seems to have been sorted.

Didn’t get to ride it though, as they picked up on the nervous handling which to be fair I knew about but after B had set the suspension up was much better. Words like “that’s shit” encouraged investigation and culprits look like head bearings are cooked so left the bike with them and hope to get it back this week.

Oh, and most importantly we are the proud owners of a olive tree!

So on deciding to leave the bike there you hired a van to get home and picked up the tree on the way.

Ha ha, thankfully not. Currently the car needs a damn good hoover though, but someone thinks we should go and get another one after muttering “ohh that was easy”

She’s going to let you get another bike. Nice!!

Well final update on the bike (Olive tree is doing well fyi)

Throttle response is amazing now, so much nicer to ride both at low speed and when being a bit more progressive with better in gear pick up. Used to dread slow corners or traffic, it’s just lovely. Looking at the Dyno print out, it’s a nice flat torque curve and a smooth and progressive power curve that climbs all the way to the redline. Feels like the damn thing just wants to go with power everywhere above 2k. That and the new head bearings, genuinely feels like night and day.

If anyone has a 990/1390 etc KTM highly recommend taking the trip up to Peterborough and BSD Performance.
