400cc bikes

So I’m looking for a 400cc bike. I really like the v4 of the NC30 but the ZXR and GSXR are a little bigger and might be more comfortable.

Please vote and post opinions/anecdotes!

Bandit 400 XD basicly a naked gixer 4

Its not on the list, It cant be voted for!

Then the gixer 4 I know a few people who have jad em and loved them to bits

I like the GSXR the least of the 3.

I want the V4 from the NC30 but the larger size from the ZXR

The zxr looks nice that extreme 601 had one he made some good videos on it.

One of the key deciders must be insurance get some quotes id you haven’t already

ZXR coming up cheapest but the NC30 isn’t far behind.
I know the V4 would give the performance but its tiny!

Get the NC30 and drop the pegs a bit you’ll be fine

This is what I was thinking.
I really like the agressive styling of the ZXR though.

I think it’s gonna come down to whats available and in budget.
NC30s are getting a little steep

Not quite as nippy as the NC30 or ZX4R but what about the SV400 ?

Those ZXRs look really nice… Got USD forks as well…

Just depends, do you want an inline 4 or a v4…

I’d love the V4.
There are other factors involved…

Ah yes, the ‘money’ factor…

I’d save up and get the bike I most wanted… But that’s me.

If you you want value I guess go for the Kawasaki. They corrode a bit though so look at the shock, suspension linkage, lower part of the chassis etc… You can pick up a spares repair for under a grand. I was thinking about doing one up a while back until someone pointed out that I’d look ridiculous all 6’3" of me sat on it…

the ZXR looks like a bigger bike, but the riding position is actually quite cramped. also on the road, is very gutless unless you thrash the crap out of it. the NC is a much classier bike, has a fantastic engine and sound, PROPER Honda build quality, looks better, and has that gorgeous single sided swing arm. out of the crate the ZXR is probably a smidge faster top end, but to ride in the real world the NC has much more usable torque and is generally nicer to ride.

in fact after riding all of them (except for the GSXR as i always thought they were fugly and very hard to get bits for) i liked the NC so much, i bought one.

In fact I think it was Matt that kindly pointed out how stupid I’d look on a 400

did it take a 400 to get to that thought? :Whistling:

Burrrrrrn! Shut it short-arse :hehe:

What you been working on anyway Matt? What’s the latest bike you’ve had that now has had every single original part replaced?

NC30 every time, more availability of parts and it’s in a different league when it comes to build quality. I’m 6’ and 14.5 stone and love to nick my other half’s NC24 (predecessor to 30). I may look a tad oversized for it, but it’s a joy to ride

funnily enough, just putting the finishing touches to MY NC30. now taxed, insured and day time MOT’d. few little things to tweak for personal effect then its all ready to rock
