cor blimey! bloomin’ excellent film, had me feeling like I was gonna be sick a few times!
well worth watching if you’ve never seen it. don’t be put off by the subtitles…its worth sticking it out.

You’re really selling it to us there Vala:ermm:

sod sub titles and being sick… Sex and the city is out on the 28th of may… I can’t wait !!!

So what is it about?

there’s only 1 subtitled film you need and that’s Taxi

Nothing pleasant, life in 1980s Romania.

Appears to me to be one of those foreign films that is generally made so that people can talk about the foreign films they have watched.

I am shocked it ain’t french and am mortally shocked that it is in colour. frankly I am disappointed, now I can’t say I watched a black and white foreign film with subtitles, I feel cheated.

It about a girl who has an illegal abortion in Romania. Set in about 1987 I think.
As for the feeling sick, that depends how you are. Never know you may be fine, just me personally when it comes to certain subjects I hate, it just brings up a different feeling. Not sure if I’ve explained that well but if you’ve got the time and wanna watch sometime different then I’d say try it.
It’s won a shed load of awards and is the number 1 film of the year (2007 and 2008) by few folk.
If you want more info wikipedia it.

Thanks for the heads up Vala!Sounds like a decent, serious, grown up film about real human beings.

Makes a change from the usual teenage guns and cgi monsters rubbish passing for films these days. :w00t:

It’ll take half a day to type in that title

Here - from Rotten Tomatoes - this is my girlfriend’s favourite film critique site:

Scored 96%. Definitely a human film to watch. Definitely a film for all you teenage dads to watch too lol.

I haven’t been to the cinema since I saw that flakey George Bush/Tree of Life; the Na-Vi/US Army allegorical CGI quasi-Hindu blue-skinned god-like film. I did enjoy that kind of brain-rot too though

I saw this film when it came out, in the cinema. It was pretty gruesome and bleak, but haunting, thought provoking and well acted. I worked in northern Romania in the orphanages in the 90’s and it was very realistic indeed in its portrayal of life there. I don’t know how it would look on a small screen though.

On another note, yes, SATC - going to see it in town with a group of Laydeez (the week before returning to Afghanistan for a short stint, so it will be well needed :D) and have planned the frock, the shoes, the cocktails and of course, what we all want to know is: Does Carrie Stay with Mr Big or will he go all Unavailable on her as per his Usual Practices? I fear that, the wedding of the previous SATC film will not last, but will it be Mr Big or Carrie that puts a spanner in the works? As for the other characters, I don’t much care about them, it’s the Mr B and Ms C storyline all the way for me!! Bring it on!! Can’t wait!!

Ok - bit off topic there just then…
