2nd October - 125 friendly rideout to Bluebird Cafe, Ferring, Sussex

Short notice I know, but a sequence of mechanical failures mean I am now riding a bright yellow Vespa 300 courtesy bike whilst my clutch is being replaced.

I plan to leave Rykas, Box Hill at 11am for a ride down to the Bluebird Cafe, which gets very good notices from Mrs Jetstream to sample it’s wares. Another ride may drop in whilst we are there.

Whilst the Vespa is no slouch, it certainly out accelerates my 500 fro ma standing start, it is seriously rubbish at back lanes (as tested this evening in the Surrey Downs) and no motorways are involved so 125s and others not expecting a high speed or technical run are welcome to join me. Please post here if you are thinking of coming along.

Rats, am looking for a 125 friendly rideout but won’t be back in the country until tomorrow :-(. When do you give the 300 back?

Enjoy!

I hope to get my bike back in a day or two.

Would have been a nice ride down but stopped to administer first aid at a nasty accident on the A24 north of Horsham. A car travelling south had crossed the centre line, destroyed a caravan being towed by a Morris Minor, and then ploughed head-on into another car. The driver who crossed over had concussion and glass splinters in and around the eye, and the rear seat passenger in the car he hit probably has a cracked rib. A few others in the vehicles had minor cuts, bruises and I suspect, whiplash claim syndrome.

When I got to the Bluebird Cafe I was able to meet up with Geoff B and the Goodwood Breakfast Club ride. After lunch we all left. Rode back to the A24, then cut across the A283/A281/A272 to the A23 then up the M23 to meet my other half at Merstham.

Bad luck Julian but good work, we`re sure you were a good man to have on the scene.

Are Morris Minor’s rated to tow a caravan?! Good work anyway for stopping and helping!
