A bit of advice required from the forum brains please
The last couple of days, I noticed a slight flickering of the headlight (stock led unit) when I was parking up in the evening and then on the way home from work on thursday, the abs light started flashing and the (stock) indicators started flashing very fast (they seemed to start off normal and then build up speed). Seemed like it was fine at first and developed problems after about 30 mins. Both appear normal again this morning when I tried at home.
The bike has also struggled to start the last few attempts.
A bit of googling/haynes manual checking suggests reg/rec or stator may be to blame. I popped out this morning and got a new multimeter, battery voltage seems fine when switched off and idling. Tomorrow’s job is to pop off the fairings and check the stator wiring.
Anything else I should be looking at before I take it for a professional to look at?
I’d check all the cables are in good order. not to compare but recently the scooter (2016) horn stopped working, upon inspection found one of the connecting cable cut in half. remember, plastic and rubber deteriorates after a period of time.
Cleaned up the ground points yesterday and it seemed fine. This morning it took a second longer than usual to start but then everything seemed fine.
Half way up the A3, abs light starts flashing and the speedo started going mental so I pulled over and turned it off. When I turned it back on it wouldnt turn over at all and the dash display was slightly faint looking.
In a last ditch attempt before calling the recovery, I unplugged every lead and fuse and plugged them back in again. Now seems absolutely fine, no flickering lights, no abs light, no fast indicators, starts immediately.
After all that faff, did I just have a loose connection on a lead?
