2012 Triumph Tiger Explorer

Powered by an all-new, shaft-driven, triple-cylinder engine Triumph claim this new model will raise the bar in adventure-touring performance.

With a prototype machine set to be unveiled in Europe next month, exact details are still a little sketchy but Triumph have indicated a fly-by-wire throttle system will feature on the Tiger Explorer enabling traction control as standard fitment. Switchable ABS and cruise control add to the electronics suite with a wide range of electrical accessories catered for thanks to a 950w generator.

On the chassis side of the equation the Explorer will feature a steel chassis, single-sided swingarm and cast alloy wheels ; 19” at the front and 17” at the rear. It is unclear at the moment if more dirt oriented spoked rims will be available as an option on the Tiger Explorer.

Looks very nice! Love the dark blue metallic

Rear brake reservoir looks cool.

All the electronics are great when you’re on the road but if they malfunction when you’re having a ‘proper’ adventure you’re going to be pretty buggered…

Very nice, very…very nice:D

Looks a practicle ‘all rounder’ might have a look at it at the NEC show…

Too similar to the BMW’s

Looks nasty

mmmmm tasty

Its a big market segment, Triumph has to have a go. I think its not bad looking.

Looks Teutonic to me and that no doubt will worry the opposition.

X 2, from the side there are so many sharp angles and crap going on its hard to know where to look. It also now looks like a bmw GS - which is a shame as the old tiger was much more handsome than the BMW

Not my cuppa tea either.

gorgeous design, wish Triumph would use that light cluster on their street/speed triples

Looks nice  … though I’m a bit biased. Be interesting to see the fuel tank range … one of the “pleasures” of the 1200 Adv.

Though I do hope Triumph have fixed the painfully hot radiator fan blasting into the groin and a proper button to turn ABS on/off in emergencies :pinch:

you sir, have issues!!!

no, not for me. dont like the look of it at all.

Looks quite tasty in some respects but far too fussy with all those conflicting angular lines. I too prefer the looks of the current Tiger.

Pity there’s no decent image of the left side. I’m intrigued by the large diameter tube on that side.

Lol! I guess that happens after 5,000 miles of GS Adv bikers taking the piss at us smaller bikes having to fuel up every 150-200 miles

Far too similar to a BMW GS!!! And they are horrible looking machines.
