130mph biker jailed - 15 MONTHS!

Seems a bit f*king steep . . .

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7556837.stm

He would have got away if he stepped on it and found 6th gear :hehe:

Whilst I agree and think that banging him up for 15months is quite ridiculous and will do no good whatsoever to anyone (he’ll lose his job, don’t know what his family circumstances are but they could seriously be affected amongst other things…) I do think he only compounded what could have been a stern ticking off, a fine and or points/ban by doing a runner, therefore resisting arrest, in the first place. Sadly that’s probably what earnt him the 15month sentence anyway! :pinch:

But he could of got a life sentence, for himself and anyone else he may have hit…

Seems about right to me. By resisting arrest he put others lives in jeopardy, including the police officer who had to chase him. I totally agree that criminals should be chased high-speed if necessary and that if they choose to do a runner they should get stiff sentances. The responsibility for any crashes resulting from such chases is theirs, in my opinion, so there needs to be something like this to act as a deterrent.

Having said that, I haven’t seen the video as it doesn’t work on this PC.

guess my 3 points n £60 was a result then :D:D:D

again he’s not being jailed for the speed, he’s being jailed for dangerous driving as such the whole ride is taken into account like his decision making skills and teh amount of risk he put other members of the public in.

If a court has found that his standard of driving fell that far below the standards of a reasonable and competent driver then a custodial is the only way they’ll go.

apart from not getting caught, the answer must be restict every bike on the road to 70 max

i think the speed is an obvious issue and I do think they’d have sent him down for doing that speed anyhow, especially given the conditions on the road (it looked fairly damp)… however, I think he may have only got 5 months or 3 months for just the speed alone, the fact that he led the police on a high speed chase during the day probably added to the sentence!

I think the guy got what he deserved, riding like that is only gonna reflect badly on the rest of us. Did you see the link for the speed camera vans with side and rear mounted camera’s to catch bikes out ?

Yep - attempting doing a runner is not clever. . .

Actually theyre a bit like bank jobs and only not clever if you dont get caught.

This is Olde news

Here you go… If you do it in a car

Its only 8 months!!! Thats almost half the sentence which is completely unfair…

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7405711.stm

Well if you’re going to ignore the fact that the biker also had no insurance & hasn’t held a driving licence since he was disqualified in 1993 for dangerous driving, then I guess it could be construed as somewhat unfair…

Sorry for bringing facts into it, please feel free to carry on…

I’d say so  Was it down hill? :stuck_out_tongue:

o sorry didnt click on the link, only read what was wrote on here.

i think i got a good result with just a bollocking from a copper today. i think its cuz i was on the motorway he let me off. i was doing just below a ton and he came speeding behind me (unmarked), and cuz of that i twisted the throttle for a full mile to get away from a street racer (i thought :pinch: )

sometimes I’m glad my bike only goes up to the ton

If I see an executive type car tanking up behind me on the mway I usually let them go past so I can have a butchers - if it don’t look like a cop I’ll go back to normal.

thats what i would have done too if he was in a volvo or a ford etc. but he was in a Toyota Auris or Yaris, didnt suspect it at all
