Before i post this in Ride outs section i want to see what your thoughts are on a run to Ypres in Belgium to visit the WW1 cemetery’s and the Menin Gate.I was thinking of catching the 6am tunnel on the 11th November (wednesday), have lunch in the square and then returning on a late tunnel.
I have not yet arranged a route as i wanted an idea of numbers that would be interested.
So if your interested and don’t mind people seeing you with tears in your eyes and want to see some amazing history and sights then put your name down.
will be very moving Pj…would come but it to near our trip, if you get chance pop over to THIEPVAL thats the huge place where they have the main parades with all the dignitaries from around the world
Sounds a nice idea but lunch in the square is a bit optimistic on that date - you probably won’t get anywhere near it.
(The Last Post is played every night at the Menin Gate by the local Fire Brigade, the traffic stops and people line the streets. Every time it is played it is for one of the fallen named on the gate. It has happened evey night since 11.11.18 except for during WW2. It will continue for many years to come. On an “ordinary” weekend you can’t always get in the square when that is happening)
