Bike-it motorcycle moulded rubber 100% waterproof over boots at £13.44 from the seller bikingear1 inter webby linky wotsit here
There cheap as chips at the price and the seller has good feedback with over 100 pairs sold so I may just go ahead and order a pair. In the meantime has anyone any first hand experience of these or similar over boots?
Would be interested to hearIs there a more local supplier? How easy do they slip on/off?Do they need to be put over the boot before the boot is put on the foot? How does the toe section stand up to gear changes? How sturdy are they in general?Any other thoughts, pros and cons.
If the rubber is over the boots I guess the only bit to consider is how easy will be to change gears. If the rubber is inside the boots I would say big NO.
Feet is sweeting and as rubber is not breathable at all I would be worry to get myself skin infection or worst, burns.
Both pairs of my current boots are waterproof but only up to a point
My winter boots are good for 2-3 hours riding in the rain, my summer boots start wicking in water after about 1-1½ hours. My idea was to get a pair of these rubber over boots and carry them on the bike to use when caught out in the rain. Which gives me the impact protection of a modern motorcycle boot with the waterproof qualities of a sea boot
I have a pair of Bike it nylon overboots. Not the most sophisticated technology but they do the job. My current boots are Sidi Rain so I don’t use them very much. They’d probably come in handy for monsoon conditions.
I have a cheap as chips pair of overboots and I can say with certainty that my feet have never got even mildly damp with them on.
Of course, that may be something to do with never having the damned things with me when I need them, but they have not leaked a drop in the under stairs cupboard.
This is the thing with all things waterproof that you have to put on top of other clothing. Unless you’re prepared to carry them all the time or have found the most reliable weather forecast (please let me know) the chances are you’ll be caught out without them in your bag or will have to ferry around a bag all the time. Plus if you’re riding along and get caught in a sudden downpour, you have to find somewhere to stop the bike, get off, undo the bag, try and find them and try and get them on.
Come on, who here hasn’t thought… “oh it’s going to rain, but I’ll probably make it home before I get too wet”. By the time you’ve realised you were wrong, you’ll be too wet to get anything on and just persevere.
And to wear these things all the time is so uncomfortable. I have the waterproof trousers and jackets and everytime I wear them I get really hot and sticky as they do not breathe at all…
