After claiming another pole position on Saturday at the last Grand Prix of the season in Faenza Sébastien Pourcel unfortunately posted his worst race results of the campaign with a double DNF in Italy. Winning his first ever MX1 GP on this track last year, Grand Prix Kawasaki Racing’s Sébastien Pourcel was confident coming into Faenza. The hard soil looks like the tracks found in the South of France when it’s dry and on Saturday Seb was always among the fastest riders. He entered the qualifying session feeling optimistic and claimed another pole position – the first one aboard the fuel injection model and his fifth in 2008.

Livia Lancelot grabbed the first ever Women’s Motocross World Championship title and won her second GP of the season in Lierop on board her GPKR Kawasaki. It has been a long time since Livia got a Pee Wee as a present for Christmas. Nobody in her family was involved in motorcycling and she started practicing in the garden around her parent’s house. Later moving to real motocross tracks and starting her career with local, regional and later national races amongst the men she joined the Kawasaki family three years ago when Roger Pourcel offered her a ride in the GPKR team alongside his sons.

Grand Prix Kawasaki Racing’s Sébastien Pourcel has been sensational in this year’s FIM MX1 Motocross World Championship as the 23–year-old Frenchman has taken more pole positions than any other rider, won the most heats – as well as two Grand Prix overall – and currently sits sixth in the series standings on his factory KX450F-SR still with a chance of taking the title. For the remaining three rounds of the MX1 championship Kawasaki will give Sébastien an even greater edge over his competition as he’ll debut the brand new fuel-injected 2009 KX450F in competition at the Grand Prix of Ireland in Fairyhouse, Dublin on August 31. Lighter, faster and stronger than ever before the 2009 KX450F is more than machine enough to push Pourcel back in to the winner’s circle.

For the fifth time this season Sébastien Pourcel stood on the MX1 podium, this time at the 12th round of the series in the Czech Republic. Fifth and second in the races at Loket – home of the Czech round of the series for many years – Sébastien recovered well from a crash during the qualifying session while his teammate Kevin Strijbos made a safe comeback after four months out with his thumb injury. Loket is not the favourite event of the year for many riders as the track is always fast, slippery and pretty dangerous. While the layout is not so technical it often offers nice racing and tough battles and the MX1 races were probably the most exciting ones of the season.

The World Championship came to a new venue for the sixth round of the series as Mallory Park’s road race facilities welcomed the riders to a brand new track. Sébastien Pourcel was once more one of the riders who learned the new layout quickly as he posted the best lap time in all the practice sessions on Saturday. The Frenchman claimed his fourth pole position of the season and picked up the inside position on the grid for both races. The first moto was extremely brief for the GPKR rider who was third at the start. Philippaerts jumped over Sébastien in the second turn and hit his right hand - the bike was damaged too with a broken water pump and a damaged throttle cable so Seb was forced to retire.

Grand Prix Kawasaki Racing riders Sébastien Pourcel and Livia Lancelot both won this weekend – Sebastien dominated the French MX1 championship round while Livia took victory in the new Women’s series. Sébastien didn’t have time to celebrate his Portuguese GP win as just three days later he was in Gaillac Toulza for the practice sessions of the French Elite Championship. He collected another pole position - two and a half seconds ahead of Aranda and Aubin - on a dry and fast circuit. The racing conditions were also great on Thursday and Sébastien had no real rivals - starting the two MX1 heats in second position he won both races easily.

After two difficult rounds for the Grand Prix Kawasaki Racing team Sébastien Pourcel claimed the fourth GP win of his career in Agueda, Portugal. After two very wet events there was at last a dry GP in Agueda, a regular venue for the FIM Motocross World Championship. Travelling straight from Spain to Portugal the team members as well as the riders enjoyed the sunny weather even if it was pretty difficult to get used to the high temperatures. As usual in Portugal the organisers did a perfect job preparing the layout.
