Silverstone Circuits Limited has announced that, following the signing of a five year agreement with Dorna Sports (the commercial rights holder for MotoGP), the world famous Northamptonshire circuit will host the British Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) from 2010. MotoGP is the pinnacle of two-wheeled racing and features the best riders and fastest race bikes in the world.

Inspired by The Long Way Round and The Long Way Down, BBC Radio Presenter Luke Ashmead is aiming to raise money for Children In Need and raise awareness of how your money is spent at some of the wonderful projects in the east of England. Unlike McGregor and Boorman who used powerful 1150cc all terrain bikes Luke will do all this from the seat of a 110cc scooter travelling the A and B roads of the region. Starting from Milton Keynes, Luke's trip will see him head to projects in Bedfordshire and Hertfordhsire before setting off to Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, on to Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire before returning to the three Counties in Milton Keynes and the back to base in Luton. A trip of around 500 miles.

A Triumph Daytona 675 powered by bioethanol fuel on Friday reached an astonishing track speed of 158.7 mph at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground! The biofuel used for this groundbreaking initiative was produced from windfall apples by A-level students from a local school. Devised by Rupert Paul, contributing editor of Bike magazine, “Project Fast Fruit” aimed to convert and run a high performance vehicle on biofuel using only basic equipment. As such, the fuel was produced in a Chemistry Lab as part of an A-level project by students from the Prince William School in Oundle, Northamptonshire.
