After months of preparation, John McGuinness got his 2011 FIM World Endurance Championship campaign underway at the weekend when he finished in an excellent 5th place in the Bol d'Or 24 Hour race. Held at Magny Cours, France, John was riding as part of the Honda TT Legends team alongside Steve Plater and Keith Amor and it was a more than encouraging start for the newly formed team.

Gino and Ten Kate Honda had another very successful weekend at Magny Cours with a podium finish in 2nd and the Superstock 600 Championship lead going into the final race at Portimao. Gino started from second on the grid but after a few small mistakes was pushed back to 8th after the opening two laps.

It was a long testing weekend for Leon Camier making his debut appearance for the Aprilia World Superbike Team at Magny Cours. After two extremely fraught races the 23-year-old was forced to retire from both races with electrical and mechanical problems. Camier who first sat on the Aprilia on Friday morning made massive progress over the weekend and was up to 11th in the opening race and ninth in the second race when problems struck.

Camier sorted a deal this morning (Friday 2nd October) to partner the experienced Max Biaggi at Magny Cours this weekend and the final round at Portimao on the 23rd – 25th October.

The fifteen year-old star-in-the-making Loris Baz (Yamaha France Junior Team) took a hard fought second place in Saturday’s European Superstock 600 Championship race, and in taking the podium he also took the championship in his rookie year. The close race was a constant battle with fellow Yamaha riders Linfoot and Gines, and Baz was only outbraked by Linfoot on the entrance to the final corners of the Magny-Cours circuit.

After qualifying in a fantastic second place, any hopes that Tommy Bridewell had of rounding out an eventful season in the Suzuki GSXR750 European Cup in style vanished when he crashed heavily on the third lap of the final round held at Magny Cours in France. Continuing his great end of season form after breaking his leg at the opening round of the Italian Superbike Championship, Bridewell was just pipped to pole position by Austrian Roland Resch and in the early stages of the race, despite a poor start, the 20 year old from Devizes in Wiltshire was making ground on the leaders.
