Jenny Tinmouth took on a new challenge last weekend at Silverstone when she competed against the world’s best Supersport riders in the British round of the Supersport – FIM World Championship. Racing with the likes of Eugene Laverty and ex champion, Kenan Sofuoglu, was never going to be easy but Jenny would be up for the challenge. Her weekend was improving as it went on, but unfortunately she would crash out of contention during the 16 lap race.

Parkalgar Honda’s Eugene Laverty won a nail-biting 10th round of the World Supersport Championship at Silverstone in the UK while his team mate Miguel Praia scored a career best sixth in the best ever race day result for the Portuguese owned, UK operated team.

The HANNspree FIM Superbike World Championship enters its ninth round this coming weekend, at another firm favourite for riders and fans alike, Brno, in the Czech Republic. A modern era circuit with its roots very firmly in the heritage of the old road courses that have hosted races in this area since the early decades of the previous century, Brno is a classic of its type, with wide chicanes that are still attacked with pace, plus uphill and downhill sections that are a real test of engine power and front end set-up.

After the first day of intense practice action at a warm and sunny Misano circuit, Yamaha Sterilgarda rider Cal Crutchlow heads the qualifying sheets with a 1’36.288, putting him narrowly ahead of Troy Corser (BMW Motorrad Motorsport). Late in the hour-long session Crutchlow ran off track trying to go even faster, but did not fall. Corser had been fastest in the unofficial morning practice session, making the most of improvements to his machine during recent Misano tests. Leon Haslam (Alstare Suzuki) started well to go third, with local hot shot Michel Fabrizio (Ducati Xerox) fourth. Four different types of machine - Yamaha, BMW, Suzuki and Ducati - filled the top four places. The top 11 riders were within the same second with one more session of qualifying and then Superpole taking place tomorrow.

Hannspree Ten Kate Honda has confirmed today that Michele Pirro will join the Netherlands-based team to contest the 2010 World Supersport championship on the Honda CBR600RR. The 23-year-old from San Giovanni Rotondo in southern Italy finished 12th in the 2009 World Supersport series, with consistent top 10 results, a pole position at Misano in Italy and a best finish of sixth in the final round at Portimao in Portugal.
