BMW Motorrad has announced that the UK price for the S 1000 RR will be an extremely competitive £10,950 (inc 15% VAT) OTR for the standard model. The S 1000 RR will also be available in a ‘Sport’ specification costing £12,235 OTR. The stunning and eagerly anticipated addition to the supersport sector can be ordered from BMW Motorrad for delivery from mid-January 2010.

Simon Andrews, who rides for Lloyds British Jentin Yamaha, today won the ‘Airwaves KICK UP A GEAR Award’ for his outstanding performance in the British Superbike Championship round. Andrews, who qualified in 24th position, finished the first of the day’s two races in 10th position and then went one better in race two and finished 9th, making up a total of 29 places. The ‘Airwaves KICK UP A GEAR Award’ is presented to the rider who has gained the most places from their qualifying position at each race over the course of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship season.

Aaron Zanotti, who rides for Red Viper Racing, today won the ‘Airwaves KICK UP A GEAR Award’ for his outstanding performance in the British Superbike Championship round. Zanotti, who lined up 25th on the grid for the two races at the 2.3 mile Kent circuit, finished 17th in race one and14th in race two, making up a total of 19 places. Leon Morris, who rides for the Trimite Brookspeed team, today won the ‘Airwaves Kick Up A Gear Award’ for his outstanding performance in the British Superbike Championship round. Morris, who qualified in 31st position, fought his way through to finish 17th in a wet first race and then finished 24th in an action packed second race. Leon has enjoyed an upturn in performance thanks partly to his Airwaves Scholarship tuition from Airwaves Ducati team manager Colin Wright.

It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of Norifumi (Norick) Abe (32) on October 7, 2007, following a traffic accident. Norick Abe, as he is fondly known by motorcycle race fans around the world, was competing this season in the JSB1000 class of the All-Japan Championships from the “Y'S GEAR Racing” team. Norick was riding a motorcycle in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Pref. when he met with an accident at about 6:20 pm and he was pronounced dead at 8:50 pm at the hospital where he was taken for treatment.
