Jenny Tinmouth has completed her debut season in the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship aboard her Hollins Motorsport backed Honda CBR600RR, the final round having taken place last weekend at the 1.19 mile Brands Hatch Indy circuit in Kent. Her 28th position overall and seventh in the cup in Sunday’s race, secured her a creditable seventh place in the standings for cup competitors, a pleasing result as a class rookie. However, the free practice sessions on the Friday didn’t go totally according to plan, with a new gear lever getting caught against the frame on the down shifts during the first session, meaning that she missed valuable track time whilst making adjustments in pit lane.

Jenny Tinmouth had a challenging weekend aboard her Hollins Motorsport backed Honda CBR600RR, in round nine of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Cup at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire on Bank Holiday Monday, eventually crashing out of the race whilst battling for position. The 2.18 mile technically and physically demanding circuit proved to be a real test for the Ellesmere Port rider, but after some adjustments to the suspension, she gained more confidence through the fast corners at Coppice and Charlie’s, and the quick left right flick through Hall Bends on the mountain section.

Still building his confidence and speed following his bad leg injury earlier in the season, Deane arrived at Cadwell Park following a morale boosting 4th place in one of the two Red Bull Moto GP Rookies Cup races a week earlier at the Brno circuit in Czechoslovakia. After a steady start in practice, Deane posted second quickest time in wet qualifying and eventually started the Relentless British 125GP Championship race from 10th place on the grid.

James Westmoreland secured his best result ever this weekend at the tiny Scottish circuit, Knockhill, at round eight of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport series, where he gained a fantastic second place. After crashing out on Friday morning, usual Centurion Racing rider Dan Cooper dislocated his right shoulder and knocked himself out ruling him out of the race this weekend. A phone call to European Superstock 600 rider, 20-year-old Dan Linfoot and Linfoot was soon driving to Knockhill to replace the injured Cooper and gained a solid 13th place on his first outing on the Honda 600.

Gearlink Kawasaki makes the long trip north of the border for round eight of the 2008 Fuchs/Silkolene British Supersport championship that takes place at Knockhill in Scotland on Sunday, August 10. Following the outing in the World Supersport event at Brands Hatch last week, the team is all fired up for the annual visit to the challenging 1.2713-mile Knockhill circuit, which, with its tight corners and short straights should suit the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R and enable the two riders, Chris Martin and Steven Neate to collect a clutch of championship points for the team.

Truck Links Yamaha rider, Joe Dickinson fought a tough battle to salvage another handful of points from Round 7 of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship at Oulton Park, Cheshire. Having qualified his Yamaha YZF-R6 on the last spot of the fifth row of the grid in 20th position, Joe had his work cut out to get into a point scoring position. Dry conditions greeted the grid and Joe got away in the middle of the pack, struggling to maximise any positions in the melee of riders around him. As the opening laps ticked by Joe started to make slow progress through the pack elevating himself into 18th position.

Both Steve Plater and Ian Hutchinson completed the sixth round race in the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport championship in strong positions for AIM Yamaha at Mallory Park on Sunday, Steve taking his second successive podium finish with second place and Hutchy not far behind in fourth. Qualifying saw Hutchy hold provisional pole for a long time before being knocked back to second when series leader Glen Richards put in a late challenge to snatch pole from under his nose. Steve Plater ended up in sixth position for a second row start after being unable to put a clear lap together around the short and tricky 1.41-mile Leicestershire circuit.

Truck Links Yamaha rider, Joe Dickinson earned four valuable points at Round 6 of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship at Mallory Park today (29th June). A heavy rain shower caused dramatic scenes on the grid as the race director declared the race wet, holding the riders on the grid for 10 minutes to allow wet tyres to be fitted. Having made a flying start into eighth, Joe looked to improve on his eleventh place qualifying position. As the race progressed to a third of the way in a dryer line started to form and the full wet tyres started to go off. Joe lost his confidence in the wet front tyre and slowly started to slip back down the order to 12th to equal his season best place from Brands Hatch.

Starting from his highest qualifying position of the season at Snetterton, Joe lost out to a five-way battle that had initially seen the 24-year old knocking on the door of a top ten result. Last season, Joe produced one of his best performances of the season to claim 8th at Mallory Park, and will call on all of his experience and determination to replicate that result this year.

Gearlink Kawasaki heads for Leicestershire for the sixth round of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport championship which takes place at Mallory Park on Sunday. As we approach the half way stage of the championship Chris Martin is nicely placed in fifth place in the rider points and Steven Neate in 15th position. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R is well suited to the short and technical 1.41-mile Mallory Park circuit thus providing both Gearlink Kawasaki riders the opportunity to feature strongly in the race results.

Gearlink Kawasaki riders Chris Martin and Steven Neate suffered mixed results at Snetterton on Sunday in round five of the Fuchs/Silkolene British Supersport championship when both were forced wide to avoid a first lap tangle. But Chris Martin managed to get back on track and complete his race in a creditable eighth position while Steven Neate came back from 27th place on the first lap to finish a fighting 17th, just missing out on the points. Qualifying didn’t go as well as the team hoped and both Steven and Chris began their campaign from a fifth row grid position. As the race got underway both Gearlink Kawasaki riders were pushed wide. Chris Martin dropped to 15th place but soon recovered his composure and began to work his way back through the midfielders to join in a five-way battle for fifth place.

AIM Yamaha experienced a differing set of results from the meeting at Snetterton on Sunday when Steve Plater took the win in the fifth round of the Fuchs/Silkolene British Supersport championship while Ian Hutchinson recorded a non-finish after pulling into the pits after just seven laps. The decision to switch classes for Snetterton was taken because the team had insufficient time to get the Superbike up and running after returning from the Isle of Man TT races and instead of pulling out of the meeting all together it was decided to let Plater join Ian Hutchinson in the highly competitive Supersport class.

At the fifth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend, Team Appleyard/Macadam rider Ashley Beech put in his best performance of the season by finishing 7th in the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship race. Teammate Jordan Thompson also performed well, finishing 13th in the Relentless British 125GP class to equal his best result of the season. In earlier qualifying, the team had made key changes to the geometry of Ashley’s Yamaha R6 which vastly improved the ‘feel’ of the bike and gave him more grip. This translated into better mid corner and exit speed - vital through the ultra fast corners of the Snetterton circuit. Ashley eventually qualified in 8th place, just 0.6 seconds off the pole time, earning him a second row grid position.
