With a week to go to the penultimate round of the 2011 British Superbikes Championship, Samsung Crescent Racing's John Hopkins continues his fight to be 100% fit for the final races as he recovers from hand injuries sustained at the MotoGP round in the Czech Republic in August.

Following his crash at the Brno GP last weekend John Hopkins has had surgery on the third finger of his right hand to correct a break and dislocation. Fractures to his first and second fingers required no special treatment and are healing in the normal way.

Following his victory in Superpole yesterday - where he set a new lap record - the Suzuki GSX-R1000-mounted British Superbike Championship contender started both of today's races from Pole Position, going into the opening race full of fight and dicing for the lead in the early stages.

John Hopkins will race for the Rizla Suzuki MotoGP team at the Czech Republic round of the MotoGP World Championship at Brno on Sunday August 14th; his second appearance of the season for the Rizla Suzuki squad, but this time as team-mate for Alvaro Bautista rather than as his replacement.

John Hopkins is keenly anticipating the return to Oulton Park as the 2011 British Superbike Championship treks back to the Cheshire track this weekend for round seven of the 12 round series. Back in April Hopkins took his debut win in the series here and vows to repeat the performance this time around. His Samsung Crescent Racing team-mate Jon Kirkham also previously found form here, setting joint fastest lap of the meeting.
