The Motor CycleIndustry Association (MCI) has launched the eMCI for manufacturers and distributors of electric and alternative powered motorbikes and scooters in the UK . This gives the opportunity for businesses to come together and to benefit from the expertise of the MCI, established over 100 years ago, in order to protect and promote the motorcycle industry and expand the motorcycle market.

Motorcyclists in London will be permitted to use the Capital’s red route bus lanes under a new Motorcycles in Bus Lanes trial that has been announced by the Mayor and Transport for London (TfL) yesterday (16 June).

Mayor Boris Johnson has today announced he will continue to allow motorcycles to use bus lanes, operated by Transport for London (TfL), for the time being. Johnson observed: "The chaos that was predicted by some doomsayers has clearly not materialised and, as I suspected would be the case, we have found substantial support for the measure.”

To coincide with the opening of London’s red route bus lanes to motorcyclists on January 5th, the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI) has today launched a new Code of Conduct for motorcyclists who will be enjoying the new freedom to use bus lanes. The Code has been developed in partnership with the Metropolitan Police and is supported by motorcycle riders’ groups, Motorcycle News and motorcycle dealerships.

Westminster City Council’s parking charges for motorcycles run contrary to the Government’s intention to make motorcycling more mainstream, and to the Mayor of London’s plans to make London more motorcycle-friendly, according to the RMI Motorcycle Retailers Association (MRA).
